Great little all-in-one amp with plenty of power
October 31, 2017
This is a powerful little all-in-one amp. It plays MP3s seamless off an SD card or USB drive, or through Bluetooth. It also has a built-in radio. I hooked it up to a pair of Pyle ceiling speakers and it packs plenty of power. The volume knob doesn't even have to go up much. I have not tested the microphone inputs, as I do not need them. I hooked the device up first to my phone to play some music and turned the knob up about a third to get some good volume. The volume on the phone was at about 80%. I then loaded some music on both a SD card as well as an USB stick. It just about blew the speakers it was so loud and had to turn the volume down almost all the way. The display is great straight on, but can be hard to read at an angle. This amp will be sitting on a high shelf in a studio so we'll see how that turns out. As far as the size, I wish it was a bit wider and less deep.
Even though there are a number of things that could be improved on this little amp, overall I am very pleased with it, especially for the price!
Pros: Packs a lot of power - You hardly have to turn the knob to get lots of volume. It packs plenty of functions in a small device - USB and SD inputs, CD & DVD inputs, line output, speaker outputs, folder and track selection, shuffle play, good bass and treble control.
Cons: Most of my cons are related to the remote. The remote is very small and could easily get lost. The volume control on the remote is not great; you can turn it down (30 to 0) and back up to the volume level the knob is set to, but not higher. The knob is not motorized, so it doesn't control that. Turning off the device with the remote puts it in standby mode. If you turn the device off with the power button, you cannot turn it on with the remote. The other con is the Aux input on the front. I hooked it up to my phone and had to turn the volume up a lot more. When you switch back to SD or USB, it could blow the speakers. I won't be using the aux input. The display can be hard to read at certain angles.
