NOT STEREO and odd controls
Reviewed in the United States on September 20, 2019
I really wanted to like this, it seemed perfect. Arrived, knobs feel solid, good heft to the product. Provides plenty of wattage to crank the sound.
The bad: Not stereo sound! It mixes left and right into mono that goes to all speakers. I noticed the on the first go round but ran myself in circles shopping for a receiver and pulled the trigger on this fellow as the deadline approached. Still, I was sure there had to be a mistake... but no. No. Stereo. Sound.
The weird: In my troubleshooting of the lack of stereo, I discovered that even after you select bluetooth mode, the input knob has to be turned all the way to the right, to MP3, for it to play the bluetooth connection.
I also had a little difficulty with the bluetooth - pairing was a snap to my google home hub but bt audio was choppy at times, and the units were only about 12-15" apart, though it was going through a couple layers of wooden cabinetry. Moving the bt antennae and scooting the google hub around, I found a sweet spot that seemed to hold strong.
I returned this and got PT506BT and love it! BT connection is rock solid on the PT506BT (different antennae), and it's sitting in the exact same spot. There's no multi-zone on that model, but I installed inwall volume controls anyway, so I really didn't need discrete zones.
