On this skeleton watch, you get a good view of the mechanicals. A lot of skeleton watches are cluttered with Roman numerals and such. Instead, on this model the hour markings radiate out like spokes of a wheel, and the minute track is simply a series of well spaced holes. All three hands are a deep blue. There's no place on the "dial" to print the name, so "Stuhrling Original" is printed backwards (so it shows forward) on the inside of the crystal. This is quite a good looking watch. But maybe they tried a little too hard. The ribbed case and the workings inside are just a bit too shiny for my taste. Maybe a brushed finish would have looked better. But some might consider the bright finish a plus.
This is a large watch at 42mm and 12mm thick, but it's not too large. Anyway, a skeleton watch is supposed to draw attention to itself. There's no indication of what its automatic movement is, but it is accurate after being worn for about a week. It can also be wound by hand. The strap looks and feels a bit plasticky, but seems sturdy, and its shiny black finish goes well with this watch. Stuhrling have some good values in their line, and this is definitely one of them. -T.A.
