Good for the price but definitely not smart
May 25, 2019
UPDATE: They reached out to me after I posted this review and while I appreciate the effort, I am not changing my rating or deleting this for the following reason: They offered me either a refund without returning the camera or a free year of cloud subscription. I opted for the refund as I am moving soon and don't plan on using this camera anymore because it's too sensitive/not smart. The person contacting me was great and replied quickly. However, after a couple of days they sent me an email saying I had to delete or change my review for her to "get approval from her manager" for refund. I declined and said I would change it when the refund was processed. If they had left it at that, I may have given them an additional star however she then came back and tried guilt trip tactics saying her supervisor was putting her salary on the line to give me a refund and hope I changed my review for the better or deleted it. It's just a little extreme and bad customer interaction. The onus isn't on me to artificially fluff ratings. So, I stand by my 3 stars and will say again: It works for the price but this isn't smart enough to know the difference between a small bug or mid-day light and actual measurable movement. You will probably get hundreds of notifications a day depending on where it is. Do with that information what you will.
This is great for the price but RIP my notifications. It doesn’t know the difference between light, small flying bugs, and actual movement within the space. I was out for two hours and got almost 70 notifications, only 2 were because of my cat. The rest was light and a fly. Also the filtering by face recognition doesn’t work, at least when I tried it with the pet sitter. Finally, the cord is really short and, having to connect into my internet/TV box it isn’t really able to hide. Which if fine for me but you may need to get creative if you’re trying to conceal it.
