Skyler Moore is destined to be an iconic hero of the American mythos. What a great adventure and many more to come! The dearest person in my life, my Nana, was an executive who traveled to all 50 statea as a recruiter. I am so excited to follow Skyler Moore's akin adventures.
I will look forward to more books from this author. This is a promising start to a new series. The book is interesting and the characters are fascinating. There were times in the book that it seems somewhat disjointed, but it all ties together fairly soon. I felt the ending could have been better, but I think the author shows promise and the stories will flow more smoothly. This is a good book and worth the read.
This book entertained me from the moment I picked it up. The Skyler Moore character kept me interested in every aspect of this novel. She is witty, funny and a great sleuth who tells it like it is. The small town of Wabanaki , Maine drew me in, to discover all that this coastal town has to offer. From the Old Wabanaki Chowder House to the small-town police force with their very own town Sheriff who finds himself in hot water after an incident with a local resident’s dog, who just happens to be a past vice president! I enjoyed how this small town starts to have “big town” problems when people start showing up dead, something that has never happened before in this town. R. Scott Wallis paints the picture of this coastal village and each of the residents who call it home. I found myself turning the page with anticipation of what would happen next and it grabbed my attention from the first page.
A perfect book to take to the beach or curl up with on a cold snowy day by the fire. Interesting characters, a charming Maine town, twists and turns, a devious plot, name dropping, sex and romance........it has it all! Love the shout out to William and Mary. Looking forward to the next Skyler Moore mystery.
A fun read that kept me turning the pages. If you like the small town charm and suspense of Rita Mae Brown’s Mrs. Murphy Mysteries or the drama and excess of Carl Hiaasen’s South Beach, you’ll love Skyler Moore and her hometown of Wabanaki, Maine. The author’s use of description and natural dialogue makes some of these colorful characters seem like your old high school squad and the anything-but-sleepy tourist town is like a character in and of itself. Perfect vacation read or for a cold day cuddled up on the couch with your canine companion. Excited for the sequel.
I really enjoyed the characters in this book, who were quickly, likable, and entertaining. There are aspects (like the small town) that remind me a cozy mystery and there are other aspects that remind me of a thriller. I thought setting was well integrated into the mystery. I definitely look forward to reading the sequel.
Interesting characters, fast paced and keeps you guessing to the end. It doesn't take long to get sucked into this book and to not want to put it down. Impatiently waiting for the next book in the series.
