I enjoyed this detective procedural about the workings of a murder case at the racetrack. Lots of twists and turns and suspicious characters made for an entertaining read. The underlying story of one detective's day to day struggle with putting off the old man in his recent spiritual conversion had a natural progression and was easily relatable for those dealing with an addictive past.
As I read Race, it kept me on my toes looking for the guilty one. Have to admit I didn't suspect the killer until almost the end. I would recommend this book to all who like the who dunnit genre. Ms Salter is great. In the process of reading another of her books and it is every bit as good.
