It is a shame for Intuit to sell this unfinished software
December 25, 2018
As you can see from the attached screenshot, there is no way to enter mortgage info. There is no way to enter property tax info neither (see the second screenshot). I bought this software for calculating the estimated tax I owed or overpaid so I would know if I need to pay estimated tax to IRS. But this software can not do that since there is no way to enter mortgage and property tax info. Intuit should disclose such limitation in front so customers will know that before they buy it. In my case, I spent almost one day to enter estimated W2 income, interest/dividend income, rental income, and now there is no way to enter deduction for mortgage and property tax. I basically wasted my whole day because of the unfinished software from Intuit. If I knew such limitation, I would not even try it in the first place. I know digit product is unable to ask for the refund. But in this case, Intuit not just sells incomplete software, but also waste customer's time. Should they feel they should do something to cover the customer's lost in this case? Or they just count these unethical revenues from us to their 2018 balance sheet and continue making money from such bad practices? I totally understand IRS needs more time to finish the tax law. But why Intuit cannot wait for the law to be finalized and starts to sell the software after that? Missing mortgage and property tax makes such software totally useless. It is not something we can do it today and finalize it later through the software update.
