New Out of Box, Works as Expected
January 10, 2019
Because this product hasn't been reviewed before and because of my tireless search for a reliable cordless vac, I'm going to update this review from time to time. I'm starting with 3 stars only because I've had so little time so far to see how it works. However, don't take that as a bad review because so far I'm pleased, just cautious after so many bad experiences!
Today I received the product. The packing is some of the best I've seen in my bad experiences with cordless vacs. (Two of which died in less than 1 year, 3 that I've returned because they did not work correctly). The Vacuum is easily to assemble and also has the best manual I've seen in my efforts to find a good vac. It's written in English only and was certainly written by a native speaker. Many illustrations are helpful.
I used the vac for about 7 minutes with a minimal charge. I have hardwood, tile and a very thick wool area rug. It worked well on all three. However, I also have a small silk area rug and this vac does not like it one bit. I tried several times (on low speed only) and the LED lights would go off and the vac stopped. I would have to turn the vac off and then restart it to get the lights and brush working again. The same is true why I tried to use it on those Wal-Mart bathroom rugs. I also noticed that when the head swivels a certain way there is some slight disconnect and the lights blink for a second but in those cases it does not stop working.
My main reason for wanting a cordless vac is to pick up the pine pellet litter that my cats knock out of the box and track around on their long fur. The suction was strong enough to accomplish this in all three areas - along with lots of cat fur! The led lights in the front, really assist in picking up even the small almost invisible pieces. I will mention that this is not one of the quieter Vacs I've used, which in my case is not of great importance. It was also easy to empty and resemble once I reviewed the instructions. Compared to other cordless vacs, the canister for debris is about normal, certainly not big. As with most cordless stick vacs, it is top heavy.
The Womow comes with numerous tools and includes the ability to turn it into a hand vac. However, sort of disappointing is that only a very small wall hook is provided. I'm not sure it would even be strong enough to hold the vac and there is no apparatus to hold all the handy tools. It took less than 3 hours to fully charge the unit. There are 4 levels of charge and after 20 minutes of vacuuming at low speed, it went from level 4 to level 2. I will update over time.
I used the Womow again today. It was fully charged when I started and ran for between 20 to 22 minutes, approx. 3 or 4 of those minutes were on high speed. A bit disappointing was that when the vac battery power ran out, the display was showing a 2 battery level, not a 1. Therefore beware that you can run out of power before you think you will. I was able to vacuum most of my 1450sq ft. before it ran out of juice, the point being that this would not be able to handle that sq footage on a deep clean level.
Update#2 One of the reasons I could not bring myself to purchase a Dyson was because of the number of customers that complained about an inability to get a response from customer support. I'm pleased to say that has NOT been the case with customer support for the Womow W9. They even contacted me before my product arrived, assuring me they were available to help with any questions or problems.
Two days ago when I turned my vac on, the LED lights in the front didn't work. Now I should have checked my manual and I would have known to take the cup holder off, reinsert to make sure it was seated properly. However, I didn't think of it and contacted customer service who followed up quickly with a set of steps to run through and then contact them if those didn't work. It is a comfort to know that IF you need customer service, they are responsive. So I've increased my rating to 4 stars.
