A gutsy and riveting tale

This fascinating memoire is filled with brave openness that is often sad, sometimes funny, and touched with loving. The author writes of alcoholism from childhood and then of a husband with Alzheimer's. In addition to her own inner conflicts, she had to confront well-meaning friends who didn't understand. Some urged just one little drink when she had vowed abstinence. Others challenged how she was caring for her ill husband. Her uncanny strength and her growth through the years is evident. I was most moved by her enchanting tale of loving two men, her husband who was ill and the man who became his friend and helped care for him.
