Does exactly what it's supposed to
September 23, 2018
This thing is great, can't see how it could be any easier to set up. You just slip your fire tv remote into this thing and go through the IR learn process. There's a blinking red light to let you know it's ready then the light turns green and flashes 3 times to let you know it got the signal from other remote. It gives you plenty of time once in program mode so you don't have to rush through doing each button and it has no problem picking up the IR from other remotes.
After the learn process it does exactly what you programmed it to do. Strong IR so you barely need to point it at what your controlling. Every button can be programmed for whatever you want. For example, I used the arrow up and down keys to control the speed of a fan I have. The blue power button turns the fan on and off, the red turns the tv on and off. C sets the fan to oscillate on/off and the other buttons control basic functions on the TV.
Solid build, blends perfect with the firetv remote. Comes with 2 Maxell AAA batteries that it needs and does exactly what it's supposed to, no fuss.
Edit: It broke within 6 months. There's a weak spot in the plastic between the battery compartment and the tray that holds the firetv remote. I'm still able to use it but it flexes pretty bad and I expect it will completely break in two soon. I still think it's a clever design, but now believe it's over priced for how long it lasted, or didn't last.
