Defective on arrival
October 30, 2018
Im a benz tech that's constantly jumping cars and the old lead acid jumper packs aren't cutting it anymore for the newer tech packed vehicles. I chose this one because of it's high power rating (although I highly doubted their figures), its wireless charging for my phone, and it was a lightning deal. Item arrived today in a nice looking and well laid out case. The jumper cables themselves looked to be 10 gauge aluminum, so I knew that the 2000amp rating was total BS, but that was sorta expected. I then tried to turn it on to see what the battery charge was at from the factory. Was completely dead. A bit alarming considering that lithium ion batteries should never be fully discharged, but excited to test it out, I plugged in the charger and off it went. Looked like it was charging fine and at a steady rate, but then it stopped at 35% and wouldn't charge past that. Left it charging for 5 hours (approximate charge time per owners manual), yet still stayed at 35%. I was going to let it change overnight just incase for some odd reason it stopped registering the charge percentage, but after taking a closer look at the casing and realizing that it's already contoured from swelling, I decided I didn't want to wake up to my house burning down and pulled the cord.
So my only option through Amazon would be to return it for a refund, but then that means I cant get it replaced for the same price because this one was on lightning deal, and I'd have to rebuy it at the normal price. So I decided to pull out the warranty card and go through the manufacturer. In the card, they state that the shipping costs are prorated, so within the first 6 months they'll cover shipping both ways, which I thought was nice. Looked at the contact info listed, and it's either a gmail email address or their Facebook page. No phone number, no website, no non-public email address. Sorry, but I'm not shipping my item back to someone's basement at the risk that I don't get an item back that I can return to Amazon for a refund. So my safest option now is to return to Amazon and order a real name brand jumper for 3x the price.
