To what lengths would you go to save your child?
March 20, 2019
With his first sentence Harlan Coben ties you to your reading chair in this story of a father searching for his missing daughter. Paige Greene has left her life at college under the influence of drug addiction and a drug-dealing boyfriend. Simon Greene hasn't seen her in six months when he finally catches sight of her in Central Park. Paige is now a bedraggled and glassy-eyed junkie who runs from him when he tries to talk to her. After losing sight of her Simon goes to extraordinary lengths to find her again and bring her home.
This is no straightforward search-and-rescue story though -- there are twists and turns through cults, conspiracies, murder, social media, and DNA testing. As with most of Coben's novels, every time you think he's going to zig he zags, right up until the end. It sure kept me reading! I gave it 4.5 stars -- would have been 5 but for a couple of minor plot questions that probably no one else would notice. I recommend this book -- plan to stay up late!
