Don't work while outside or during commute
December 12, 2018
I bought these because I ride the bus for an hour each day and I couldn't hear my music on my earbuds without raising the volume to potentially dangerous levels. Unfortunately, these headphones have a major flaw that make them unusable for commuting: any changes in air pressure cause the noise-cancelling to overcompensate and produce a low-pitched sound. That means that, while walking to the bus, the headphones pick up the wind and produce a wind sound that's louder than whatever you're listening to. And then on the bus, the doors rattling seem to cause constant little changes in air pressure, which results in really uncomfortable, incessant, annoying thumping sounds in the headphones.
I switched to some much cheaper in-ear bluetooth earbuds with rubber grippy parts that go in my ears, and they work far better. I can still hear conversations and the bus engine, but I can also hear my music and there's no bassy thumping sound.
The headphones work well for just sitting inside, I guess, but then I don't really need wireless or noise-cancelling for that, so that kind of defeats the whole purpose for spending a lot more money on a pair of headphones. I imagine they would work really well on an airplane, though, so there's that.
