Just purchased for use on a boat with my Dutch Oven. I have a 10" Dutch oven with a bag for a larger oven. This folded flat and fit with my oven in the bag. It was perfect and worked just as well as the traditional "Bulky" round ones. Awesome for a boat where space is at a premium. AND BONUS!!!! I forgot to bring propane for my gas grill. I was able to use the chimney starter with the grate on top to cook some hotdogs the first night of our holiday campout until propane could be picked up at the marina. JUST an idea to modify. if the grate in the bottom could be moved up about 1/2 way, my dogs would have cooked faster without using too many briquettes. The size is perfect for dogs, (we were a family of 6) It would not support burgers for 6. I will use it on my annual Canoe trip down the Colorado (again - the compact size is awesome).

I am going to start this off by saying I am not surprised. But after 3 uses the hinges that allow it to fold up have basically locked up from the heat and the "Galvanized" part of the steel is already breaking down and rusting from the heat. I had hoped for better but I am not overly surprised. purchased for my RV since it takes up less room than a normal chimney but it only made it through 1 camping trip. I will try to continue using it for as long as I can to get my 30 bucks out of it. But I dont have i hopes of it making it through a 2nd or 3rd trip.

Wowie, is this built like a brute. I use it exclusively as a charcoal starter. In that role, it behaves exactly as expected, except it is square. I purchased to use with a Weber, Smoky Joe. The unit is too large to fit inside the grill pot. No big deal as I need a collapsible, portable starter.

Though it is kind of heavy, this is a great tool. It is very well made and feels like it will last forever. I hope so.
It takes up very little space and is great for camping (probably not for back packing). I use it for starting charcoal and as a camp stove.
Heats up coffee in no time, cools off quickly and easy to clean. Space saver and robust construction.
A great item for us.

I use this for everything, such as i grill on it, i use it to cook with my 12'' dutch oven, i have used it for frying, you can use lump charcoal, charcoal briquets, wood sticks, and wood pellets. I got a grate off of a old gas range and put on top of it to fry with and for my dutch oven. Here is a hint for those who want something easy to start there charcoal with if you dont have a newspaper around to use, take about 3 or 4 paper towels and wad them up in a ball and leave a small tail on it and take your cooking oil and saturate the ball and light the tail and it will act like a long lasting huge candle and paper towels and cooking oil is something everyone has around and the good part is is that it doesn't take much cooking oil to do the job and it is handy for getting the ole grill a going.

Good design and well made. Came quickly. Larger than expected and probably too heavy for backpacking. Looks like it could be the only stove you need. Also received a multifunctional tool card and 9 downloadable e-books and a coupon for 10% off on other Redcamp stuff as gifts. The grill part is not galvanized so your food would not come in contact with the galvanized parts since acid foods should not be cooked ON or stored IN galvanized steel. So ... this is just a great rust-resistant piece of equipment.

had to return this item. the charcoal holder grate would not snap into the 4 mounting slots meaning if it were to be flipped over for dumping lit coals it would fall out. Otherwise seemed well built and would be decent as a grill but I needed it as a started.

Perfect addition to my camping program. Breaks down for easy packing and can function as a grill in a pinch. Love it!

This works great, and it folds away neatl!
I bought it before a camping trip because I needed one that doesn't take a lot of space. Very happy with the purchase!

We do a lot of camping while kayaking so this little grill is perfect for keeping gear to a minimum. Doesn't take much charcoal to get going and start grilling. Do recommend some non stick foil to put on the cooking grate because of grease flare ups.
