I just bought this stove recently and had it put together last night. Putting it together is a breeze. Basically attach the legs and the fuel line and it is ready to go. Right where the oxygen plate is is the bronze nut with the tread where the hose connects. Just make sure you are using a wrench to hold the bronze nut while you are tightening the gas line to avoid movement of that nut. The red knob controls and gas flow and the height and strength of the flame. I use this to do some serious Chinese cooking and this sucker really blasts the heat in the wok for that purpose. Also the pressure knob provides a great degree of flame height and temperature control. The unit is really well built and solid. I am very impressed with the quality of this stove and the massive amount of heat it is capable of putting out. A must have for serious Chinese wok cooking.
This thing is a beast. I mean, holy crap is this thing a beast. For cooking on a wok, it may even be too much as even on low this baby puts out the heat. However, for frying up a big batch of fried chicken while keeping your kitchen pristine? Oh yes. It's heavy duty and could easily support my weight I'm sure, and I do recommend using blue Loctite on the fasteners when you assemble it because it just seems prudent.
I use the burner to evaporate maple syrup. Used to use a turkey fryer combination. It arrived on time and as described. Very sturdy construction. I evaporate about 12 gallons (~100lbs) at a time. The comments about the paint pealing around the burner are true. If thats an issue for you just brush off the old paint when it peals and repaint with a grill or automotive paint. Only thing to consider, I bought the 200,000 btu unit and the 100,000 variety would have been enough and probably used a little less gas.
This thing is a beast! It brings my 20 gallon pot of cold water to a boil pretty quickly. I find myself having to fiddle with it a lot to keep the water at 160 degrees, though.
The paint the used burned off and produced what I assume are some seriously toxic fumes. Run it outdoors in a very well ventilated area, not near your house or garage, until the initial burn off is complete.
I spent more than a few hours investigating this product, starting a few years ago. I never found the kind of quality and power that I was looking for, so I gave up, and just borrowed one. This year we hosted another New England lobster bake, and I decided to look for a burner again. Again, I did some research, read reviews, looked at the construction (from pictures), narrowed down my choices, did a comparison, and chose this model. I'm thrilled with the result! It is super heavy duty and much more powerful than the one I borrowed a couple of times in the past. Two of my guests asked me where I purchase it and I sent them the link. I am picky about quality and this burner is fantastic!
The burner is fantastic! it is heavy duty and will support the weight a very large crawfish pot with no problem. It is wonderful for cooking with a wok. The unit provides the needed high heat to cook fantastic wok meals. This is a good product.
I am typically highly critical, at least thats what my wife tells me... and this thing far exceeded my expectations. I would bet the construction of this would hold hundreds of pounds. I researched quite a few and decided on this one based on the weight of product. Great simple overly engineered design!
