Sturdy and durable despite first impressions.

Package arrived quickly and was packaged well with little waste. The phone case itself seemed a little flimsy and I was concerned about it being up to the task of protecting a phone worth almost $1000 bucks (Phone prices are getting super crazy.). The case is made of a thicker plastic that is still very flexible. It has a shock absorption type material to it. There are NOT 2 layers to this case like other shock absorbing phones. Normally you have the really thin rubberized bladder for shock protection, then a thicker hard plastic shell. This is one rubberized piece only. The case is much thicker and sturdier than the rubber bladder in the two layer phone cases, but still very flexible. It's about the thickness and firmness of the jelly shoes in the 80's or the clear plastic little girl shoes of today. Originally it felt like the case was just going to pop off and not stay on the phone. However I was wrong, it hasn't slipped once. It has successfully protected my phone against drops on tile and sidewalks multiple times, and all of the gem's have even stayed in the cover and not quickly dislodged. The back ring on the case spins in a full 360' and clicks into each position nicely. It is made of metal and is very sturdy. Haven't had use for the lanyard cord as of yet so no real comment there other than it seems well made. The case is a 9.5 out of 10 for not showing finger prints and for dirt resistance which is awesome! The only thing I do wish is that the design near the buttons was slightly different. Currently the buttons are covered in the plastic case as well. I like that feature as it will also protect the keys from being damaged or scratched. However the side design of the case with the sparkly gems goes directly up to the buttons and is the same exact height as the button controls. So if you're like me and don't look every time where the buttons are exactly when you attempt use them, it's hard to identify them just by touch and feel. There are many times I've had to closely look at my phone turning it sideways to be able to move the volume up or down or to find the power button. If the design didn't sit exactly flush with the buttons and there was more of a defining break in the pattern it would allow you to find the buttons more easily, and be a definite improvement. That is truly the only reason I don't give it 5 stars and it falls to 4.
