I wanted to like this!
March 24, 2019
I really wanted to like the Soocas Sonic Electric Rechargeable Automatic Toothbrush, but there were too many issues for me to keep using it.
Let's start with the app. It is clearly made for another part of the world. There are listings for dozens of Arabic speaking nations, most of Europe, Scandinavia, and Asia. The Americas, USA, Canada, Mexico and other South American countries did not appear to be on the list.
I chose United Kingdom so that my language would be correct and the app informed me that the time zones did not match, but allowed me to continue. Next I started the bluetooth connection, and it appeared to be going well until it reached the screen in my photo. Then, after I pressed the power button, it told me that the activation was about to begin. It never began. The next time I tried to use the app, it said that I had not paired with any toothbrush.
So that means no app.
"I can live with that," I mistakenly thought. Until I tried to use the toothbrush.
Let me tell you a short story - an analogy if you will - that describes this toothbrush. I own a Corvette ZR1 with 638 hp. I love it - I enjoy driving it. It is a beast. My wife, on the other hand, cannot even drive the car. It is just too much and it scares her.
The Soocas Sonic Electric Toothbrush is the equivalent of that car. It is 638hp of electric toothbrush. It is kind of insanely powerful. In fact, it might be more of a jet engine of toothbrushes. It is very powerful and it also has a hard plastic tip that holds the bristles (the head) and when that thing hits your teeth, it rattles your brain! I really find it quite jarring. My wife (like my car) finds it far too powerful and will not use it - but I told her to withhold her judgement because there is an app - and I was hoping that I would be able to use the app to slow it down a little, but since the app doesn't connect - well, that's a problem.
I don't even know if the app would let us calm it down or not, and since the head is such a hard plastic, it is not a comfortable feeling when you accidentally touch your teeth with anything besides the bristles, I don't know if this is going to make the cut for us.
Obviously, there are people who are happy with this toothbrush, so maybe we are the oddballs. But the APP has 1 star on the apple app store, so that appears to be a common problem. As for the toothbrush itself, it is very nice looking - very classy! But pressing the power button takes you from Race car, to air plane, to jet airplane to rocket leaving the atmosphere. There is no "station wagon," "bicycle," or "casual walker" settings for this thing. It is full speed ahead!!!
The Soocas Sonic Electric Rechargeable Automatic Toothbrush is really neat and I really wanted to like it, but I'm not sure that I am going to be able to stick with it. I'm going to give it a few more weeks and see if I can get used to it, but I'm not sure I would recommend this to someone else looking for an electric toothbrush. I would also add that this is not our first electric toothbrush, so it isn't like we are not familiar with what to expect. It is just really powerful and it kind of tickles when you are using it and as I've said, it is quite uncomfortable when it touches your teeth with the plastic part of the toothbrush head.
I couldn't recommend it so I'm going to give it 2 stars for now. I'll report back if I get the app to work, or if I decide that I can get used to it after all. I feel bad about it really - I wanted to like this toothbrush. But so far I can't.
