A accurate slow cooker!!
September 14, 2018
UPDATE: 28 September 2018
Ok, I have used the slow cooker four times now with the last one being a two day process to make beef soup. After this last time of using the unit I noticed that there were blisters on the inside of the pan in multiple locations. When I washed the pot out, the blisters came apart and there was oxidized aluminum showing.
At no time have I used any metallic utensils on this pot. I have used good grips rubber spatulas and good grips teflon spoons and ladle. I have also washed this out by hand using a sponge every time and dawn dish liquid. The pot has then been hand dried and put away.
I contacted Amazon and they refunded my money on this pot. Perhaps I received a bad unit, I do not know. But this is not a very long time for use and at this price I would expect much better. For that reason i have reduced my rating to a single star because once this happens, the unit is useless.
I have had many slow cookers and a lot of them from Costco. Most have been miserable at keeping temperatures and would burn food even when on low and long cooking times. I kept trying to find one that would actually keep the temperature it said it was at!! I finally gave this product a try even though it was more expensive (no really when you consider all of the units I have bought and thrown away). I have to say, I have been amazed at how well the temperature stays at a set point and being able to make modifications is a dream come true! This unit is very flexible and I do love using it. The only negative I have is that it takes a bit longer to clean due to the rubber seal on the top. You have to take it off to clean and then put it back on. Yes, it is not that big of a deal, but it does add time. It also creates the one question I have for longevity. Do not know if you will be able to buy a replacement seal later. I guess time will tell how it does. For right now, it is a solid 5 except for cleaning and that i give a 4 star.
