So far it's working good, there could have been more instructions for Linux beginners
So far it benchmarks the same as my old 10/100/1000 Gigabit Ethernet adapter* (125-235 Mbps(depending upon how things are set up, etc...), using TWC 200Mbps) [Update: AT&T setup fiber for my apartment building, and now speeds are more consistently high and closer to 185-235, even though I'm not AT&T for this internet]
* My old one of a different band broke after warranty expired, so that's why I bought this one
Worked in Windows 10 without having to manually install any drivers, etc...
To install new Ethernet 1000, on Debian 9.x, and those with Linux kernels less than 4.15, (?<=4.8) (`uname -r` gave 18.104.22.168-amd64 here on Debian 9.x) [ link removed: "Reviews may only include URLs or links to other products sold on Amazon."] says to go to [ link removed: "Reviews may only include URLs or links to other products sold on Amazon."] (Linux) driver Extract/unzip the zip(something like right click on file then extract..., or unzip ...) in a terminal go into the extracted folder then make sudo make install sudo update-initramfs -u and reboot?
Not hard to do, but for people who have never compiled software for Linux before there could have been at least these basic instructions, otherwise I'd imagine they'd be totally lost. At least Heron had the url to download this.
Some difference between this and similar models: this has lights that blink on the Ethernet side to tell you it's working this doesn't have any extra USB ports to plug in extra USB devices(I've had bad luck with those that do, 3 that went bad)
Bought this adapter and it works better than I expected. I have an optical fiber network at home and I dont see any latency caused by the adapter. After plugging in the adapter to my computer I noticed that the device gets detected as a Realtek device instead of some cheap integrated circuit. Would definetly recommend this product!
I purchased this cable for my MacBook Pro because I was trying to upload hundreds of photos onto Google Photos and it was taking forever and stalling all of the time using my wireless provider, Xfinity. However, this little device is an extraordinary purchase. Not only does it plug and play very easily, but my computer runs faster than ever- not only when uploading a lot of data, but also when streaming videos online. I never have to see that annoying spinning wheel anymore, which is amazing. This is well worth the purchase price and I wish I had done this sooner!
I use cable provider for internet. With wireless router, get download speed of about 55 mbps. My laptop doesn't have LAN cable slot, but does have USB type-c, so with this adapter speed increased to well over 100 mbps. Wow!
Well packed in a nice bag; fast shipping. Thanks! This connection cable increase the speed incredibly. I love watching youtube. now the video quality is guaranteed. Both plastic and metal parts are made of super good materials. Detach and connect to my laptop smoothly and well secured. Great product and friendly deal.
Very durable quality. The transferring speed is stable and keep in 80M Bps(~800mbps) in working environment. It is an amazing result for USB adapter. Especially the USB-C port is not generally designed for Ethernet. Good to have it!!!
For a laptop like mine that doesn't have an Ethernet port, it's a great little thing to have. Good quality and impressive for the cost. I use this to download the large file from cloud server. and it just works great!
