Ah, I love Julian Bakery's protein bars. Usually. They honestly make my all time favorite protein bar, their primal thin sweet cream...which if you're reading this, you may not want to try because you may be vegan, which I am not, just vegetarian with vegan leanings, and that bar has whey in it. So, of their vegan bars, I've tried three. This was my least favorite, I actually liked the cinnamon twist the best.

So, what was interesting to me about this bar was the protein source...watermelon seeds. I was super curious about how that would work out in terms of flavor, so curious I didn't pay attention to the fat content on the nutritional label when I ordered it, and it is generally higher then I want in a protein bar because I have some fat restrictions on my diet, so to eat these I have to make adjustments elsewhere. And honestly the watermelon seeds were probably what gave it the slightly bitter aftertaste that I wasn't so sold on.

These bars are high in fiber, which I think is great, but not as high as their ginger snap cookie protein bars, which use pumpkin seeds. I do really like that they use more natural ingredients. I can not say enough how big of a fan of that I am. I do like that these have a bit of iron, because I tend to save their pegan or vegan bars for my period because I generally need a boost of that nature then, but this bar doesn't have as much iron as either cinnamon twist or ginger snap.

The texture is a bit dryer then their egg white sunbutter bar which I love the taste of apologies for offending any vegan sensibilities on that one :) So for me, the texture wasn't an issue, I kind of like that it doesn't stick to my teeth as bad as the egg white sunbutter one, but the star came off for the bit of an aftertaste. I think the all natural ingredients thing totally trumps the slightly bitter aftertaste, but because they have bars I like better that work better for both my fat content preferences/needs, I doubt I'll be ordering this one again. I do think it's a solid enough bar, and probably if you like a little bit of the flavor of watermelon seeds you'll do just fine with this one.

I have been a vegan for several years and can usually tolerate what other people would consider 'healthy' tasting things but these were awful. Very rubbery, left a cooling taste in my mouth afterward and did not sit well in my stomach. I would highly suggest No Cow Bars instead of these. They have pretty much the same exact macros and taste way better. (and you can find them cheaper at some places too)

Taste is OK, but the intestinal disturbance is significant. Recommend only eating small amounts at any one time. I cut them into 1" cubes for a treat with grass fed butter.

I was nervous about these because of the bad reviews on taste. However, I just got my order and tried one. They taste exactly like you should expect these type of bars to taste. Not something you would eat strictly for pleasure, but definitely tasty, satisfying and nutritionally exceptional. My order is soft and chewy. About to order more so hopefully they maintain this high quality control with freshness.

because I love the quality of nutrition Julian's Bakery products offers, though I have to say this box of bars WERE tough. I ordered the Chocolate Lava and the Vanilla Cinnamon Roll at the same time and had no texture issues with either of those two..... but with this flavor, it WAS necessary to warm them. I've read other reviews that question the consistency-, some batches are hard, some batches are soft..... so apparently that's what happened in my case?
I loved the Chocolate Lava and Vanilla Cinnamon Roll-, not sure I would get this flavor again, but I have such respect for these products.

Maybe I received a weird batch, but these are really REALLY bad. I'm not remotely picky, either. I"ll eat just about any protein bar and think that it's totally edible. They are hard as an absolute rock and taste chemically. I had warm up the bar so I could even bite into it. I don't know, but I can't bring myself to eat these. My friend confirmed that these are foul after I gave her one. I know they're not keto, but the No Cow bar is infinitely better.

Love these and all the bars I get from Julian Bakery. Low sugar, high protein and low calorie. I keep these at work and in my purse for a tasty and healthy snack on the run. These also travel really well, so I am not tempted by unhealthy food. Some are like a candy bar so they take care of the sugar cravings.

I like these I am doing weight watchers and these are 4 smart points so these work for snacks between meals and they have 14 grams of protein so really helps with cravings. The sunbutter ones are better. They don’t have a huge cinnamon flavor but they are not to sweet perfect blend.

I was hoping to like the taste of these more than I did. They’re not terrible, but definitely not my fave. I probably will go back to the chocolate lava flavor after this box. Otherwise, the bars are super filling and keto-appropriate. They’re great to have on the road.
