So very much enjoyed this book. It cleared all the nasty rumors that were said if Diana which I always felt were untrue. She was the people's princess in every way and came back strong at the end of her short life.
I never get enough......reading stories of Diana Princess of Whales. She was extraordinary beyond belief. Taking on the Royal family was a very brave thing to do. I firmly believe that Charles was totally responsible for the breakdown of the marriage. He is a coward and a very selfish person. This narrative was well written and very straight forward. The world will never forget Diana. She was loved by all.
So, most of us know the story of Princess Diana and her troubled life. This book looks at all her ventures, from growing up in a stately home, her lovely attitude, and the pain that she had to endure as the possible Queen of England. Her first meeting with Charles swept her off her feet, and yet they only had 12 dates before he agreed to marry her. But there was another person in this duet, and she never left their lives. In fact the royals were concerned about Diana because she certainly wasn't the status expected by the royals. In a visit to a hospital , she was fascinated with the nurses and volunteers who helped AIDS patients. After her painful divorce from Charles, she continued to work with unfortunate hospital victims. Her continuous love for all the people she touched opened many doors for her, and ultimately made her the Princess of the People's Hearts. The book also discusses her untimely love for her two boys and how the three of them enjoyed their happy lives together. There are more stories about her life, including the chauffeur, full of drugs, and the awful fascination by the paparazzi the followed her everywhere that ultimately caused the car wreck in a tunnel in Paris. She lasted a few hours but she died in a hospital. The funeral was held at Westminster Abbey for the friends, but outside millions of crushed people cried over this horrible event. Read the book.. The print is fairly large and it can be read in about 2 days, a well chosen description of the very short life of Princess Diana.
While I was young, I clearly remember my mother wake me in the early hours of the morning to " watch a part of history " And later I will never forget watching the news coverage so late into the night when we heard the terrible news of Diana's car accident....this book just beings it all back like yesterday.
