I'm a nutritionist and CrossFit trainer who's hell-bent on staying fat-adapted and eating only the right foods to fuel my daily WOD's. I always know and understand all the ingredients that I put into my body and if it includes anything remotely related to refined sugar, it doesn't leave the store. So after years of hunting, I finally discovered Julian Bakery's bars—the only bars on the market that are truly ketogenic/paleo, at least in my estimation. They won't spike insulin, they're high in fiber, and low in net carbs (carbs minus fiber). Now after trying nearly all of Julian Bakery's bars, this is by far the best one. From taste to texture, they nailed it. I bought a box and shared a few with some officemates and they love it, remarking how well they suppressed their appetites. "That's the power of fiber," I told them. The challenge now is to limit myself to just one bar a day!

WOW!!! Ok first, having never tried any of these protein bars before I was very skeptical of how it would taste. I recently decided to count my macros and am supposed to be eating 30-35g of fiber each day, which is a lot!!! I found overloaded on veggies and needed a better option. I decided to try this and told myself if it was even semi palatable it would be worth hitting my macro's.

I received the bars the day after I ordered them. The boxes were a little banged up but I don't care about that at all. I tried this bar warmed in the microwave for ten seconds as the box recommends and I was shocked!!! It doesn't taste like one of those diet crap bars that are disgusting. It actually tasted like a warm brownie. I closed my eyes and had the sense that I was really having a treat. I could eat these everyday.... And will be because of how much fiber and protein is in them. If you are looking for something to hit those numbers and give you a treat, this is a must try. I cannot wait to try the other five flavors I purchased!!!

I have been a type 2 diabetic on insulin and metformin. I javr lost 100 lbs and dropped my glucose levels so that I have a A1c level in the 4s with no meds. I was excited about your bars being paloe/ Keto and only"1g of sugar" but found out that they spike my sugar levels worse than ice cream or na beer containing 20 carbs with no fiber. Your bars are falsely advertised they will spike sugar sending you out of ketosis and if you are diabetic they will jack your sugar way out of range. Please do more research on this product I will continue to do more research to try and figure out how something with "1 net carb" will jack your sugar up. They might be paleo but they are not Keto and are dangerously mis leading for diabetics.

I like this flavor over the others. It has a ton of fiber, so be careful. My body is ok with it, yet other Julian Bakery products like their low carb granola, give me really bad gas.

The bar has an oily feeling, that some may consider to be gross. Overall, it's one of my favorite protein bars because it agrees with me, tastes good, and doesn't make me tired afterwards like Quest bars do to me.

I was looking forward to trying these protein bars due to their great ingredients and low sugar content, but the taste is honestly so bad that I couldn't finish the first one I tried. It literally made me nauseous after two bites, and I have a high tolerance for bad/weird-tasting health foods. If something is relatively healthy, I'll force myself to eat it and eventually develop a tolerance for the taste, but that is not the case with these. I had the same experience after trying a second bar the day after the first. They are also very oily, as other reviewers have said, which wouldn't bother me too much if the taste was bearable but may be a turn-off for some people. The only reason I didn't give one star is because of the quality ingredients and the fact that maybe others will be able to stand the taste.

I love the taste and consistency of the Pegan Thin Chocolate Lava Bar, as long as I microwave it for 15 seconds first and then cut it into tiny pieces. If you like sunflower seed butter, you will like this. It's not a grab-to-eat-on-the-go bar though, because it must be microwaved to be enjoyed.

Julian Bakery has gotten some negative press and is fighting some lawsuits regarding mislabeling the carb and sugar content of their products. FDA is actively involved in this. However, the limited list of ingredients (if honest) don't seem like they would be problematic. The only ingredient I wonder about is the Resistant Tapioca Fiber and how many carbs that actually does contribute to the product.

I would say, if you're on a Keto or Paleo diet to lose weight, watch carefully to see if weight loss stalls after introducing these bars.

These are just a little too good! You would never guess these are sugar, dairy and gluten free! The texture is just right - like a creamy brownie - and they are so yummy I have to tell myself not to eat 2 (or 3!). The main ingredient is Sacha Inchi, a South American seed which is written up as a superfood with the highest levels of omega-3s per bite of anything (17x that of salmon, I read). So in addition to being yummy, high protein, low (low low) carbs, with great fiber, it is also high in omegas and a good amino acid profile. So if you are on the fence, don't be. These will be your favorite bars, too!

Love these. I’ve been doing plant-based keto (keto for medical reasons, plant-based for ethical ones), and these fit the bill. They’re great to have on hand if you’re on the go. They got me through seven weekends working at the Renaissance Faire (not a keto OR vegan-friendly place for the most part!). They taste fine; I’ve never met a protein bar that make me shriek with happiness at the taste, so I don’t expect much. Best of all, they don’t kick me out of ketosis despite having 27 g of total carbs. (But keep in mind that might not apply to you and check how your body responds!)

This bar has really, really grown on me!
Most likely if you're drawn to a gluten free, dairy free, sugar free, vegan protein bar, it's out of necessity that you pay strict attention to your nutrition, right?!!!
No, this isn't going to taste like a Snickers bar, (though I love the deep chocolate flavor and texture) but if your goal is to provide your body with nutrient dense fuel that satisfies your hunger, stabilizes your blood sugar and is easy to digest-, why not give it a try?
I appreciate that there are products like this on the market-, I have a lot of respect for this company!!!
I will absolutely reorder- my favorite of the Pegan bars!

The taste may take a bit to get used to, but I love the thick density! I feel like I'm eating a meal, not like some other bars that are so light and go so quickly. I really like this brand Pegan. I've tried their other Vegan flavors, and this one is one of their best.
