Eye candy without any substance - 2 stars
on July 11, 2018
I'm glad I watched it on Prime for free, otherwise I would have been annoyed to have spent money to watch this convoluted mess. Predictable characters - -feisty, hot, Brittish chick with a cute accent, check -- Rugged American, "man's man" who is tough and gritty, yet will get said Brittish chick, check -- spunky tweener minority orphan, who plays a combo of sidekick and the future adopted "daughter to be" for our protagonist, check. All very formulaic. However, what was not formulaic was the convoluted plot mess that involved King Arthur and the round table, Merlin, and Stonehenge. Add to all that an over the top, CPU melting, CGI extravaganza where the film shots had so much going on, well it was hard to tell what was going on. Any bright spots? Well, the actors/actresses are pretty to look at, and do an OK acting job, although their characters are blah. There are some visuals that are nice, but the vast majority are way, way overdone. Some cool shots of Earth planes attacking the alien ship. That's about it. If you want loads of "actiony" CGI with a Transformers theme attached, don't care about the plot, and don't want to try to keep up with the story, then you may like it. However, most people would probably rather find something else to watch. Two stars because it helped me fall asleep two nights in a row.
