Perhaps the most fun movie of Summer 2017. As good as if not slightly better than the original. Each character has an actual character arc and development. The villain is almost interesting. Lots of fun action and set pieces. And it just ends perfectly. If you like Marvel movies, this one sits at Number 3 for me. Behind Iron Man 1 and Avengers 1, but just above Guardians 1 and Winter Soldier. It's that good. The music is perfection. You will enjoy it.

They did a great job on this one! If you saw the first Guardians in 3D in the theater, kudos for you! Both movies are meant to be seen in 3D. It also plays the audience for a loop the first time you watch it, like Wonder Woman when you realize Russell's motive, w/o giving anything away. Volume Two does a great job by keeping the action at the same level as the comidic moments. I actually think this is the funnier of the two movies, particularly when Yaundo asks Groot to get his head piece. Oh, and if you had no idea, keep watching the credits for five scenes, instead of two.

I think what makes the Guardians movies work so well (love that Guardians is now plural) is summed up by one scene. It contains the line "I'm Mary Poppins y'all!" Seriously, that one scene is why it works so well.

Love these movies and so glad they have turned out even better than that 2nd trailer that had 'Spirit In The Sky' in it way back.

To tell the truth, I was wasn't worried at all about Vol. 2. It's as fun and serious and deep and silly and teary as I'd hoped. Kudos to all involved!

Movie was great follow-up to part 1. I felt like it was a little too mushy in relation to the "Star-Lord finding his long lost father". It was a good build up and reveal. But I felt like that took up more time than it should have. I get that they make movies to appeal to a broader spectrum of people aside from the Marvel crowd so they beefed it up in that aspect. But it was more obvious in this movie, especially with the extra Drax comedy relief moments. The scenery was amazing, character development was great, only real complaint was Rocket going backwards in a sense of achievement and attitude. They just made him sort of a jerk in the movie and his solitary action created a big ordeal. Overall still wouldn't kick this movie out of my collection by any means as is still has great replay value. I hope part 3 brings it all together and really makes this series the gold standard for action/comic book movies.

I am a big major Marvel movie / show fan and I really enjoyed this movie. I'd say it's ok for kids too. A little bit of violence not too much but lots of action and the movie really kept my attention. I'm really happy that I watched this. I love how they kept Grut in this movie as well he is such a cute but fun character and my favorite in this movie. I was surprised at what is revealed about one of the characters and his father which really kept the momentum going in this movie for me. it's a great Marvel action battle type of flick . I love all the different characters and the whole scifi perception I got while watching this. I'm also a big fan of movies with creatures and space so this movie was right up my alley. This movie has some pretty funny comedy in it which is a great, but also has a serious plot to it as well. the fact that they so perfectly mixed the combination of those really impressed me. Great movie!

Unlike most sequels, this is better than the original. The main characters have grown into their parts, but the best part is how supporting characters add texture, humor, and interest to the whole. The best parts are Yondu, Rocket, and Baby Groot.

I resisted watching the original movie for a long time, not so with Vol 2. Don't wait. See it often and make sure you have a copy to stream. It never gets old, just keeps getting better with each re-watch.

It is difficult to strike just the right balance between comedy and drama in the same film; so difficult that most writers and directors don't even attempt it.
"Guardians of the Galaxy: Volume 2" comes very close to striking that balance but falls a little bit short.
The plot is convoluted - which is not necessarily a bad thing - so there is room for both humor and pathos in the body of this movie. There is also plenty of action to bridge the gaps between those parts of the film that are aimed at making us laugh and those scenes that are designed to give us a lump in our throats.
I'm not going to go into great detail about the plot because that could spoil the film for those that have not yet seen it, but I will say that Peter Quill and his misfit crew are just trying to make a living doing jobs for various planets as they flit about the galaxy. They battle an inter-dimensional space monster on one of those jobs and then get into trouble with the leader of that planet... so much trouble that she sends a fleet of spaceships after Quill and Co. The result: More trouble as Quill's former Ravager companions set out to find him in exchange for a huge reward.
In addition, Quill finally connects with his missing father - a man (?) he never knew.
That doesn't go quite as well as either of them might have hoped, however.
The special effects are on a par with other Marvel films, which is to say they are spectacular. The ensemble cast, headed by Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana is excellent and the direction is pretty smooth given the complex script.
Where the film falls short, in my opinion, is that it tries to cram too many pieces of candy into the jar. As a result, it's easy to get distracted as you watch the Guardians fight to not only save the galaxy but stay alive in the process.
For that reason, I give this film 4.5 stars instead of 5.

A Great visual movie and with a great sound track as well! I watched it three times at the theater in 3D and 2D! Some criticized it for trying to hard with the jokes but I got the feeling that this was to balance out some of the more tragic scenes. I bought this as soon as it was available for digital streaming on Amazon along with the "awesome" soundtrack as well. I highly recommend watching!

Not all of the jokes land, but enough of them do. This is a fun and colorful ride that gets richer with repeat viewings, which give you a chance to catch facial expressions or even musical cues that you might well miss if you only watch it once. I actually liked this movie better than I liked the first, which I found to be darker in tone. I don't think there's another series in the MCU with quite the same feel to it, although it seems like Thor: Ragnorok is leaning toward the same flavor--fun and colorful. I rented GotG Vol. 2 and liked it so much that I bought it. I'm looking forward to seeing the Guardians again in Avengers: Infinity War.

So I was expecting something much worse. I had low expectations because I really liked the first one and I heard the second one was not as good. The second one is a little more spastic, but I think it is not bad at all. It just has a different tone to it. It's more nerdy and the storyline is less streamlined. Their is more adult humor in it. I found it to be much more quirky. There were a lot of self-observations in the movie, where characters would break the 4th wall. I felt the acting was good. The cameos were funny. The movie was nicely shot. I do think it would be nice to see a Galaxy 3. The new character was funny.
