I own a CrossFit Gym, I own wall balls from 6 different manufacturers including, Rogue, Rage, Rep, and others... this is the ONLY WB that I own that I will not allow my athletes to use because I feel it is DANGEROUS. The ball deforms anytime it drops from a height greater than 2'. since uneven weight distribution in a oblong wallball can apply asymmetrical forces on the body when catching and requires asymmetrical application of force during throwing, and that is simply no good.
I contacted customer support and said:
"If you feel the product I received does not accurately reflect the quality of your product line/craftsmanship and you wish to demonstrate to me that your products are able to maintain their shape with even weight distribution during use, I would gladly work with you to replace the one that I have,"
They responsed with instructions on how to use a wall ball, and a statement saying they aren't meant to hit the ground. And they were happy they could assist me!
And here was my response:
"You didn't offer any assistance! I am using the product properly, just like I am using similar products from over 6 different manufacturers, and your wall ball is the only one that deforms... I am a professional strength and conditioning coach and know how to use these balls. I'm also an engineer, I'm assuming you buy the shell from a supplier/manufacturer since it shares similar stitching and construction as other equipment suppliers, but fill it yourselves? The media in which you use to insulate your ballast is too malleable. First you need to change how you stuff your wallballs and second you need to consider increasing your QC to insure that you are selling a product you can be proud of!
They responded again with instructions on how to use a wall ball... and offered me a $2 refund... they can keep my $2 and use it to invest in R&D or in customer service training.
