Learning to Play the Guitar
Reviewed in the United States on March 14, 2018
Really enjoying the lessons and learning a lot. Peter is a great teacher, goes at a nice pace, and explains things well.
I had recently taken up playing the guitar and started with the Yousician App, which has been fun for sure and has helped me to build strength and dexterity in my hands, but I never really felt like I was learning to play the guitar as an instrument...just sort of learning to follow a bouncy dot faster and faster on the screen. Without the App and a dot to follow I was useless with the guitar.
I purchased all 3 "seasons" of these lessons...each one has 6 lessons of about 20 minutes a piece. I've watched all of the episodes, and am really solid on the lessons up to S2 E2 and I can now sit down with the guitar, without an App to follow a bouncy ball, and actually play music with it, and it kinda sounds pretty good too if I might say so. He goes over some really nice sounding chord progressions and different strumming patterns, once you get them down good with the changes, you can do a little improvising and it sounds really cool. Tons of scales to work on too, arpeggios...I'm having a blast!
Anyway, if you google Peter Vogl you'll come across a site that has a subscription service for all sorts of guitar lessons, this series being one of them. I did a free trial and was able to get PDF files of the lessons with the tab, chord progressions, strumming patterns, etc, which is nice to have when you want to practice without the videos. From a total noob who's having a blast learning from the great Peter Vogl, I highly recommend the entire series.
