I got tired of Optimum Nutrition ON whey protein powder being so expensive, so I started shopping around. MusclePharm Combat whey matches and/or beats ON whey in just about every category on the label, and it's much cheaper. I wish there was an affordable protein powder (under $55 for 5 lbs) that doesn't use artificial sweeteners, but Combat Whey is the best protein powder I've found in this price range. I'd like to see a few more flavors. I mix the strawberry flavor with a banana in my blender every morning, and it tastes good.

MusclePharm Combat whey:

The hubby and I have never gotten used to the idea of putting the whey and whatever else into a bottle to get our protein on the run. The problem is that by the time you clean that mess up you may as well have gotten the blender out and made a smoothie.
Of the very many wheys we have used this is the only one you can mix with a spoon easily. No lumps, no fuss.
Of course, all the whey is overpriced. And this one is at least as much as the rest of them are. I keep hoping for a price war, but they don't come.
It's good whey and barring further price increases we'll continue to use it.

First time trying one of the Muscle Pharm protein powders... has a better flavor than a lot of chocolate protein powders I've tried. I usually stick with vanilla, but when I saw Amazon selling 5 lbs of the Chocolate Milk flavor for $27.54 I couldn't resist the deal. The powder mixes very well in a Blender bottle. The size of the scoop is larger than I expected, so 1 scoop is quite large and turns out very thick and rich when mixed (have tried in 0% milk, whole milk & water) so I have to dilute it a bit more to make it palatable for myself. I definitely think I'll be trying other Muscle Pharm flavors and products in the future!

After reading reviews I decided to go for the cookies and cream flavor. It was awful, way too sweet and tasted very artificial. Left a nasty aftertaste as well. I can't speak to the other flavors but I would avoid cookies and cream.

MP Combat Powder is always my go-to choice for protein when I am looking for something affordable (compared to other brands), effective, and good tasting. Some of their flavors have a bit of a chemical taste to them so I tend to err on the side of caution and stick with traditional vanilla. Plus, vanilla can be mixed with anything and it will taste good. My favorite is blending 2 scoops of MP vanilla with 6 or 7 large medium sized pieces of frozen watermelon, 2 tsps of creatine, some whole milk, and some honey. For some reason, those flavors just work great for me. Every now and again, if I use a shaker bottle, I will have little clumps of unmixed powder, hence why I choose to blend it. Definitely not a deal breaker for me though.

Big thing with protein powders for me is taste, low in carbs and sugar, and finally how many scoops to achieve the said protein. The one taste great (milk chocolate) without that aftertaste. It doesn't overload you with carbs or sugar to achieve the taste like others do (BSN). And lastly it's one scoop per serving with is a plus since it will last you longer, there might be cheaper options out there like EAS but you use double the amount to get the same result. So in the end it cost you more money in the long run. Will be ordering this again.

I like the product but I discovered that there must be a lot of settling of the powder because the canister appears to be about half full when first opened. . I did not get the listed number of servings per canister so I weighed how much the provided green scoop delivers and discovered that it provided 1/3 more product by weight than what was labeled on the "serving size". So just fill the scoop 2/3 full or use a smaller scoop....that is what I did. I wrote the company but they did not seem to think it was a problem. I did. When you use the correct amount it mixes and tastes much better.

I just got tired of chocolate, strawberry and vanilla protein powder shakes. So, I tried adding Instant Coffee to Vanilla protein each morning, and liked it. Finally found this Cappuccino protein powder at a decent price, and bought two x 5 lbs. In my Ninja I pulverized 2 canisters of instant coffee - one with caffeine and one de-caffeinated - then added one to each of the protein canisters - - and the results were better tasting coffee flavor and not so sweet. Protein with caffeine in the morning and protein without extra caffeine later in the day works great for me.

First: This is a good protein powder. My only complaint would be the MUST for a shaker bottle. This cannot be stirred, as some other proteins I've used in the past (namely Optimum Gold Standard). The taste is great; the low carb count is fantastic; and Muscle Pharm continues to set the standard to rate other products on. This however, is not necessarily the best of their offerings. I would recommend this, under the strict mandate that you MUST have a shaker bottle to avoid the clumpy nightmare you will otherwise get.

Excellent protein. I get the cookies and cream flavor and it's awesome. 2 scoops in water is 50 grams of protein and 280 calories. No bloating, fast digesting very good.

I trick I do as well is add a single scoop of fiber and just do one scoop of protein (25 of protein) and this way everything get processed even more quickly as sometimes a heavy protein diet can bind you up from time to time. I just get the generic orange flavored fiber mix it with the cookies and cream flavor it tasked like sherbert cookies and cream if that makes sense.

Lastly I keep both of these in my desk drawer at work and as I rarely go to lunch I have several of these throughout the day and t works well.

I'm a Software Sales Executive who loves lifting (always natural) and this is part of the reason I've been able to keep my size. (I'm 6'2, 260 lbs at 49 years of age.)

Buy it. :)
