I was getting tired of the Samsung brand prices for our RF28HFEDTSR and wanted to try these. First thing I did was compare the look of it to the original one we got with our refrigerator and they looked like the exact same in every way. After installing the first one and running water through it to clear the excess carbon we instantly noticed the taste was a lot better.

Now I'm going to spend some time going to go over some of the problems that others have stated that seem like there could be an easy fix.

To the people complaining of a taste in their water make sure you run the recommended water through before you drink it and remove the old ice. There's a piece of paper that has instructions and I think it could be left over carbon.

To the people complaining that the red filter light didn't turn off after installation, there's a reset button for that.

To the people complaining about noise or flow problem, the instructions state there is a chance that it needs to be removed and reinstalled as something isn't lining up.

I would also look out for the version that only has one rubber washer as it sounds like a defective model. We got the one with two and so far hasn't started leaking (fingers crossed).

I admit that I was leery of purchasing these filters as a previous experience with a non-Samsung filter left me wanting. The specific concern was that the filter flow would be a trickle, as was the case with another manufacturer. This flow on this filter is up to what I experienced with Samsung filters. I cannot tell a difference between the two. There are no taste, discoloration, or other issues.
It should be noted that the filter pictured is NOT what you will get. Apparently in an effort to cut costs, they eliminated one of the rubber O--rings, so rather than two as in the picture and Samsung filter, there is just one. Leakage has not been a problem for me, but perhaps that cost-cutting measure is what is causing problems with others who note leakage. I have not experienced any to date, although the lack of a second, redundant O-ring is a bit annoying, especially when it is shown in the product picture. Misleading at best, false advertising at worst. Just change the picture, for Pete's sake!

Works well as an OEM replacement and much, much cheaper in cost. Be aware, though, that this Waterdrop filter is about 3/16" longer in length than the OEM units -- which does not affect function, but it does stick out further from the filter receptacle. When I was installing the Waterdrop filter, I kept thinking that I didn't have it fully inserted because of this, and it took a while to realize it's just a longer length and sticks out further.

These replacement filters have slight variations from original from Samsung but the cost is much better. They installed as described in Owners manual. The same cautions apply, run the water though the water line until it runs clear and also to get all air out otherwise the water dispenser will leak. Once I did all the above the filter has worked great.

Samsung's OEM water filters are almost prohibitively expensive. These 'generic' filters work great, don't leak and are a fraction of the cost of the OEM filters. The major external difference between Samsung brand filters and these appears to be these have a single external O-ring at the mouth while Samsung's have a double O-ring. I was a bit concerned that these might leak given that difference. These have been installed in my Samsung frig for 2+ months with no leaks. The water tastes and smells as pleasant and unremarkable with these filters as it did with the OEM Samsung filter. Bottom line ... for the price these are excellent value and seem to function as well as the much more expensive versions.

unit fits and does what its supposed to. There are some differences though. The main being the factory unit has a two o-ring barrel and this uses only one. Might not be a big deal but it is worth mention. This unit also did not seem to click into place like the factory. It stops turning at around 4deg off center. It seems rather easy to remove accidentally. Still, for the cost these are a steal, Each unit was individually shrinkwrapped and in the box included a neat 6 month chemically active timer. Just press the little button and it starts the count down. Box included fridge magnet with a code for 5% off next order.
Water tastes the same and there's no reduction in water pressure that we can notice.

Pros: The work well with no leaks and no funny taste

Cons: They don't last quite as long as the originals but for the price, I can buy several of these

Overall: Fourth time I've bought these.

I have been using my waterdrop filter for about 2 weeks now. I am happy to report it works very well. The filter cartridge is a bit smaller than the Samsung filter it replaced. There seems to be no issue because of that. The filter installed the same as the original. There has been NO leaking. As for taste and smell, I live in Florida and the water is terrible. Normally, there is a strong sulphur smell and taste. The water tastes great when dispensed through the waterdrop filter. Equal to the far more expensive Samsung filter. I was skeptical at first because the price was so low, but pleasantly surprised to find I can pay much less per filter and still enjoy great tasting water. I will definitely be a repeat customer.

I ordered these based on price and most reviews. Installed in my French door Samsung fridge yesterday. Went in perfect. Ran about a half gallon of water through the filter and it's working perfectly. Lots of pressure and great tasting water. Don't know how long they will last but for the price these are great! Highly recommend!

Works great. Just like the original. And you can't beat the price. We'll have here now, for he next 18 months.

It took a gallon or so to get the water flowing smoothly. But all great. Reminder for others is to hold the alarm button on your Samsung fridge for a few seconds, after the filter is installed. So the change filter light resets.
