A Fun, Read-It-And-Forget-It, Beach Book
on January 31, 2017
*********NO SPOILERS REVIEW*******
I enjoyed this love story--and romance books are NOT my cup of tea; I'm one of those holier-than-thou lovers of literature who think romance novels are crap. There. I said it. But, this book is not a romance novel; It's a novel about a romance. Did you miss the nuance (that's probably all in my imagination) there? That's okay. Just know that those who enjoy a romantic romp will like this, as will anyone purely wanting a well-written, fun story.
If you read the description, then you know the set-up. It's a cute idea and the author runs with it. I've seen some of the reviews complaining that the book is predictable, but I'd like to clarify that. The fact that the two leads are going to end up together is, yes, predictable. However, the scenarios the pair must travel through to get to that happy ending are inventive and fresh. I certainly couldn't predict what would happen in . . . ah, well, sorry, no spoilers.
Mother and f•••er are two of the first three words of the novel, although I could be mistaken (I'm pretty sure I'm not). Also, while the love scenes aren't particularly graphic, some of the language surrounding the sexy stuff may be considered vulgar by some. Although, others would just see it as frank. Basically, if you run the risk of being offended by a line-hugging PG-13 movie, then this isn't the book for you.
All-in-all, The Ticket Is a charming, enjoyable, read-it-and-forget-it, beach book. No one's going to write their master's thesis on it, but, sometimes, that's exactly what you're looking for.
