I have used these a couple of times to get a camp-fire started. They work, still need dry kindling, which can be difficult to scrounge at times. Anyway, these will overcome some dampness but really just a convenient method for starting 'first-heat' to get things going...The small packets do not take up any space and I always carry some in my emergency gear pack when I am camping/hiking...

I came across this item during a walk through our local County Fair. I was skeptical but watched intently thinking what is this junk? The person started while in water, burned quite long and hot. So I took the bait and purchased. Now I am in need of more. I use it every fire in the outdoor firepit, in my indoor fireplace during a cold winter night. It lights amazingly simple and quick, burns long enough to get a good wood up and going quickly. I will not be without these items and will be reordering 50 pack soon.

I like how small these packets are, you can easily just throw it in your pocket if you want. They do light easily and give off a good size flame, I would say about 4-5 inches tall. It was hard to tell when it exactly burned out but I would say somewhere in the 5-7 minute range, which is long enough to start dry wood on fire. I smelled no toxic fumes or anything so hopefully that is a good sign.

Actually really liked these.small, light, easy to pack four or five of these just in case of tough starting damp wood scenarios in the wet wet woods. They hold a good flame, you need flame to light them,, bic lighter works fine.
These are about the size of the flavor packs inside top ramen packs so..convenient.

I bought a 25 count bag and I liked em enough that I'm gonna buy more. I only used four but they're handy specially if you don't feel like fn around getting a fire started after a long day kiln drying wet wood to burn. Anyways,.one thing is they'll clump up after being toted around for miles in the rain. Smash em down to powder again, they worked fine

This is a great product and lights easily with a ferro rod, so it should be exceptionally easy with matches or lighter. QuickFire - FireStarters. Burns up to 10 Min at over 750° - 100% Waterproof, Odorless And Non-Toxic - 25 Pack

Have tried many different fire starters as I am fire starter challenged even though we have a wood stove and a fire pit in the backyard. These do work really, really well. Easy to use. Seem to burn pretty clean (not much smoke at all). In the wood stove I wedge the starter between 2 pieces of wood and it burns plenty long enough to get the fire burning.

For some reason the package I got did not burn for 10min more like less than 5min however the product is good for the most part; it does the job need to throw in a few of them to get areas of your log to actually catch fire instead of just two (what is said on the instructions)

We use these to start our grill fires in our Big Green Egg. Lights easily, no ordor and a lot faster than electric starters or using the fire pot. Just make a hole in the center of your wood chunks, light and lay a piece over the fire starter. In 5 minutes you'll be ready to grill !
