These are definitely worth the money. Until I discovered these, light BBQ fires were a pain in the butt. Now, I just load up the chimney with some wood charcoal and one of these, and in no time we're cooking. They're a lot easier to work with than wadded up newspaper.

Really good fire starter from Midwest Hearth. These are all natural and very easy to use. My only minor suggestion is that I wish these were packaged in a reseal able plastic inner liner. As it is I have to take them and put them in a different baggie type or plastic container to make sure that they do not absorb moisture and swell. Where I live the humidity is extremely high.

These puppies are easy to place and light promptly. Some brands don't do that. Surprised me. I had the ones that came with my BGE and they were fine. I ran out and bought some others at a local market that were MUCH less expensive....not worth a dink. So I tried these and I like them a lot and they are reasonable priced!

I have a Green Egg Grill and love it. Part of the joy of using the grill is using the finest quality charcoal without those fire propagating additives that leave behind a petrochemical taste, so Green Egg recommends that the owner of their grills use charcoal and fire starter cubes of their own manufacture. I was happy to find these fire starter squares on Amazon to give them a try. I am happier to report that they work every bit or better than the Green Egg brand, at a lower price point, and with the ease of Amazon ordering. Such a simple product - but when one finds something that is perfect at what it does, that is so easy and economical to access, that I never would have found had it not been for Amazon, its a joy.

These charcoal starters work very well. I find they light faster if you rough up the corners before taking a flame to it. Flames lasts long enough to really get the coals going. Will continue buying this product for the foreseeable future.

These are way better than using lighter fluid or briquettes soaked in lighter fluid. I use two squares under a chimney. I store them in a ziploc bag and they don't dry out. Really pleased with how easy these are to use and how effective they are.

These cubes are amazing, being able to burn long and hot enough to start Thaan Binchotan charcoal the first time, where previously, I had to double up on newspaper twice to get it started. I only use 2 cubes to start Coco Ala Binchotan which is extremely difficult to light in the charcoal chimney, but burns for over 10 minutes till the fluted pieces are 1/3 glowing red (wait till they are 2/3 glowing before stacking them together). I believe these two types of charcoal are the hardest to light, but are well rewarded by their 3 to 4 hour burn time. Great product, but a bit pricey, and I will definitely reorder.

Didn't work for me. I had to light more and more to get my Big Green Egg going. Never had this experience with Big Green Egg starters. Same Charcoal that I always use. Ended up using 4 bricks and had to add wood chips to get a 'fire'. I was very frustrated!

Fantastic. I only just now discovered these after being a backyard BBQer these past couple years. This makes lighting the chimney so much easier. If you use charcoal and use a chimney to heat the coals this will be the best purchase you make.

This is one of those, why the heck haven't I been using this before, products. Such an improvement over my previous method of dumping lighter fluid over coals and then waiting for that fuel to burn off. I combined this with Fogo FHWC35LB 35-Pound All Natural Premium Hardwood Lump Charcoal Bag, will never go back!
