Lower Your Ink Usage & Print Faster
Reviewed in the United States on June 11, 2017
I'm not surprised at some of the reviews. I just purchase an HP 5740 and it has issues like streaking across photos and trying to get you to sign up for Instant Ink. I purchased this cartridge and installed it when the printer came rather than using the tiny initial ink cartridges that come with it. Out of all the reviews I've seen, not a single person has mentioned Fast Draft.
Control Panel> View Devices and Printers> Right click on your printer> Click properties> Click on Printer Properties> General tab> Click on Preferences> Under Print Quality change it to Draft. It uses less ink and prints faster. Having cracked open and refilled cartridges, XL is also a waste of money. Buy an ink kit on Amazon and learn to do it yourself. It's not nearly as difficult or as messy as you may imagine. Oh you'll get a message every time you print that you aren't using a genuine cartridge or that it's out of ink. Click ignore and print anyway.
I'm willing to live with the pop up message and will get around to disabling it soon. What I will not do is allow a company to take a product I've already paid a considerable amount of money for and hold it hostage, prevent me from doing with it as I please, or con me into signing up for an ink saving program that isn't cost effective. Greedy! Every once and awhile a new cartridge is needed because you want to keep the print head clean. Not a foolproof plan, but it will save you a lot of money and give you freedom.
