It's been sometimes that I read a true mystery book and I enjoy it immensely. As a matter of fact, I bought the other 2 books in the series right after I finished this one.

The story was intriguing, as well as the characters. Although there are some sexual innuendo, this one basically a clean mystery story and I like it. I hold the 5-stars review because somehow I didn't feel connected to the characters. I felt something is missing. Maybe because this is the first book? Probably. I'm holding a candle for the next ones.

I did enjoy reading this book, but felt I never got to know the characters. There were many old schoolmates of the murder victim, but so little information about them and their actual relationships with the victim in the past. Just saying that they dated, or didn't get along, etc., isn't enough. Actual events would have been more helpful to a reader who is trying to solve the mystery him/herself. Also, the solution of the murder relied on the impossibility of a blue-eyed child being born to 2 brown-eyed parents. That simply is not true and really spoiled the conclusion for me. I will probably read another book in this series, and hope that it has a bit more substance.

This is the first book from this author and it is good. It was good in places and amusing but different .There is a lot going on in this book with a lot of characters. The ending was a surprise you will need to read it.
Yes I would recommend this book if you like mystery.

Not a very engaging book. Does the silly "if the police aren't going to figure it out then it's up to me to do it" that is typical of cliche cozy mysteries. And the whole "has blue eyes so both parents must too" is false. I have blue eyes and my husband doesn't but both our kids do. Pass on the book - not worth the time.

I don't understand how an author can put so much energy and creativity into writing a book and let it be published with bad subject/verb agreement and consistent was/were misusage. The book could be much better.

This is a cute cozy mystery with the main character being a mature woman starting a new life in a small seaside town.

While Libby is walking a dog along the beach she finds a dead body under the lighthouse. It's determined that it was Susie Bennett, a woman who lived there long ago but had gone to America to become a rock star. The police say it was suicide but Libby doesn't think so.

In this mystery, Libby starts talking to the locals about Susie and coming up with more and more reasons why she doesn't think Susie killed herself. Too bad that people didn't think much of her ideas. Since she was new in town, she hadn't known the dead woman so they didn't think she knew what she was talking about. Little did they know that because she hadn't lived there all her life, she was in a better position to look at the facts objectively.

So many interesting characters and animals that enriched the story with humor and compassion. The story opens with a dead body on the beach under the lighthouse. Is she local? Was she murdered? Or was it a suicide? The small coastal seaside town in England provides the backdrop for an interesting mystery. There are laughs, the beginning of a lovely romance, and you must solve the mystery. Read this. You will enjoy it.

A pleasant light cozy. Events take place in a small village where everyone knows each other and grew up together. Libby has moved there after the death of her husband to start a new life, and of course meets an attractive, somewhat mysterious man who is to be her partner in solving crimes. The plot is a bit predictable, but the story moves quickly and the characters are likable. An entertaining quick read without a lot of substance.

This book is enjoyable but it seemed more like a sketch for a book to be written. The characters were introduced and the mystery solved but without much detail. In particular, I would have liked to know more about the relationship between Max and his son and why Joe was such an angry man. I haven't decided whether I will read the next book in the series.

I finish all the books of authors that I enjoy and the search begins. It begins and goes on and on through so many books that I cannot finish. Finally I find an author I can enjoy. Good characters, good story and not a lot of foolish mire of useless words. Looks like I just found my next author. I hope she has written a lot of books.
