Disappointing lack of editing to make this show "clean"
July 16, 2016
Let me be clear that I am familiar with the original material, and even own a copy of the original, unedited version of this show. I LOVE this show. However, I've never cared for the harsh language in the show or the occasional overly suggestive material included in it. I was SO excited to see a version listed as "edited" and "clean", although I knew it would most likely still contain the "softer" words that most people don't mind. Despite having zero explanation of what was edited and what was not, I went ahead and bought the CD set and it arrived today.
Imagine my disappointment to find that the editing here consists only of sound-dropping the 3 or 4 "s" words and the 1 or 2 "f" words. That's all that was done. It probably took the sound editor a half hour to make these changes. If you're looking for a version that's more palatable for children or prudes (that would be me), then this really isn't much help at all.
I realize that there is an artist's vision involved here, but as deeply as Mr. Miranda is involved in every aspect of this show and the outreach it has created for educators, I would have thought he would have acknowledged that his show needs to be presented differently to be acceptable to many people, and to educators who have to answer to parents. He could have done so much, so easily, and this falls far short.
