The clear examples and stories make this book easy to read. It was good to read a book that really gives women practical ideas about how to behave at work, while still being themselves. It shows which value women bring to organizations and shows women how they can make men see that value. A book that can help women break that glass ceiling that still seems to be there.
Anyone who works with members of the opposite sex will get a great deal of useful insight and practical advice from this book. But don't be misled, this is not one of those earnest, self-improvement style books which demands the temporary suspension of a sense of humour. Not at all, it is wise, humane, amusing and full of easy-to-use tips for both men and women. I have photocopies of the "checklist" pages ready to hand by my desk, so that I can refresh my memory before different types of meeting. I would make this prescribed reading for anyone in a senior management position where either gender outnumbers the other - or even where the numbers are equal (should such a place exist!).
Inge Woudstra's book is a modern relevant version of books by Dale Carnegie who wrote the first best selling self-help books ever written.
I would suggest that Inge's book is an essential guide not only for those, men and women, wishing to attain success in their career but anyone wishing to win friends and influence people in any areas of their life. This is a book everyone should read - it could change you forever.
This book is a gem. Inge brings together years of research and experience in a book that is not only an easy read with masses of examples to back up her points but also I like it's layout with key takeaways and suggestions upon which to reflect. Fundamentally, it is practical. What more could one want from a business book that will inspire and encourage?
Why another book for women in business? I admit I was sceptical at first. But as I kept reading all the questions I asked were answered. Thoroughly researched and very well written. The book was a joy to read and it brought me some valuable new insights.
