Works with Otter Case - UPDATED REVIEW
January 2, 2019
I actually really like this thing. Granted I have not put it to the test yet, but I will. If it starts breaking down for any reason, I will update my review accordingly.
*UPDATE* (Feb. 5, 2019)
Warm day in the South - temperature effects plastic (always) Cold days - same thing.
It has already warned me that it might not continue to close correctly, but I will reserve the removal of points until it fails completely.
I still REALLY like it and it fits my truck, phone and needs perfectly.
* I have a very thick Otter Case on my iPhone and the mount still holds the phone in place firmly.
* I have a 2013 Toyota Tacoma and the CD slot sits high on the dash, so it is perfect for my needs.
* I flipped the entire mount upside down (plastic screw head is now underneath the CD mount) and it just looks better.
UPDATE #2 (March 12, 2019)
The clamping mechanism failed completely. I am taking the time to write this review because I REALLY like this holder and I don't want something stuck to my windshield or hanging out of a vent and blocking air flow.
There are 4 screws in the back of the part that holds the phone (the block) around the edges. I removed these and opened it up.
First - the screws were a bit loose so that could have been the issue right there, but upon opening the back, the spring that makes the clamps "click" and hold, was out of position.
It takes just a bit of patience adjusting the clicking arms back into place correctly and screwing the back plate back on, but once I did that... WHALLA!
Nice and clicky-grippy again.
I am quite sure these things are put together in some sort of factory sweat-shop, but if you really like it and want to keep it working, you're going to have to make a few concessions.
Gone are 2 stars for making me do that.
