Spot Farms Chicken and Apple Sausage dated to expire 11/10/2019 is moldy. My dog normally loves this product, but he is rejecting the moldy product delivered by Amazon in my last monthly shipment. Buyer beware! It appears that product does not meet "human grade" standards touted by the processor.

Update 4/3/2018: Only one bag showed up moldy out of six. New deliveries the next month were also mold free. The manufacturer's response was less than stellar however. They pointed out that no preservatives are used in the manufacturing process, but didn't expalin how the product rates a shelf-life of 18 months.

I have been buying these Spot Farms treats for my dog for several years - they are a quality product with a simple list of honest ingredients. I feel good about the Spot Farms line in general. My dog knows specifically what these are, and will turn down other treats for these every single time. She's not a picky eater by any means, but she loves these. My local pet supply place stopped carrying them - just these chicken & apple ones, they carry the rest of the line - and it broke my puppy's heart. I've been buying them from Amazon, but one thing I've noticed is that Amazon's stock seems to be less fresh than the mom & pop pet store's - they are slightly dried out & shriveled in comparison. The dog certainly doesn't care, and the product is always shipped *well* in advance of its expiration. Still, I am giving Amazon's four stars instead of five to reflect the slight loss of quality versus optimal. Obviously they aren't a problem - I keep buying them. :)

What can I say - I don't personally consume these treats, but if my dog is any indication then these are quite possibly the best tasting things on the planet! Time to go outside one more time before bed? Just give him a whiff of these treats. Time to go in the gated off area for a bit? Just show him these treats.

Some color on my dog - He's lazy, and VERY particular. The response that these treats provokes is unlike that of any other treat. Hands down!

Details on the product:
The packaging is pristine, and completely sealed for freshness.
The product itself is fresh and soft.
The smell is actually pleasant, and unlike those treats that smell like fish or processed garbage.

Summary:
If your dog is lazy, like mine, then you've finally found the motivation you've been looking for!

These are fabulous treats. First of all, the sourcing is good and from my checks on the company, the treats are safe (no antibiotic/hormones, no GMO, etc). They VERY easily can be torn into tiny pieces for training but they do not crumble. Because of this, it's possible to give many reinforcements (via tiny pieces delivered quickly) and still not give a huge volume of food. Dogs are nuts about them! They smell wonderful.
The texture is soft, which is great for training. I have used quite a few and have had NO digestive issues etc. arise. I love that they are not junk food.

I'd recommend them for any size dog - they last quite a while when torn in pieces.

I have been buying these for the last 1 1/2 years an this last order the quality has changed. The company has changed they receipt. The size of the treats too. They're slightly larger. It is my guess they're adding more preservatives to them. They even smell different and the dog won't eat them. That tells you something if the dog doesn't even want to eat it.

All my dogs really love these. The don't smell terrible like other treats, they actually smell good. I bought them due to the minimal ingredient list and that they are human grade. Just a word of caution, if you have a smaller sized dog who likes to swallow their treats whole make sure you break up the treat into smaller pieces.

We get the Chicken Apple variety: Our dog has only a few teeth left -- these treats are ones that he likes. Most treats are too hard for him and he drops them back on the floor. These have a soft enough of a texture (sort of like a beef jerky, but a person can pull apart the treat with their fingers), but is not so soft that it falls apart easily (like a piece of bologna does).

I have a very picky Lhasa Apso mix. I've tried many different kinds of treats and haven't found anything she absolutely loves besides beef Bully Sticks...until now.

She ate two of these right away and hid the third one in her bed. She also rolled around the floor very happily after eating the first two.

My dogs absolutely love this treat so much that I have to hid them. One of dogs will sit in front of where ever they are and cry until I give him a treat and then he is in heaven. He will even try to do tricks so that I would give him one like pretending there is someone is the backyard and then go running out like he is chasing them away. Then he expects this treat. He doesn't act this way towards other treats, only when he knows I have Spot Apple and Chicken Treats. Too bad they are so expensive or I would buy them more often. But then when I do, they go so quickly and my dogs love me a little bit more.

My dogs absolutely could not wait for them to come in from pottying to get their treats. When I first bought these, I was babysitting a dog who did not like treats however he ate this very happily. They smell wonderful right out of the bag and I was even tempted to try one. So far, all of the Spot Farms products that I have tried have been excellent in both quality and value.
