Decided to switch brands and I have to say I'm coming back to Dymatize! It's priced less as the tried and true Optimum Nutrition Casein per/lb which I've been using for years, but I think it has just a tad more BCAAs but it also has 2.3 grams of L-Leucine which is proven to help with protein synthesis, and we all know you build muscle in your sleep, not when you workout so that's a great little extra!

The taste is good and it's VERY low carb. (Basically none) I'm on a cut so carbs/sugar are a deal breaker and this basically has 2g of carbs-- it's entirely protein and nutrients, I think it's less carbs than Optimum Nutrition's variant.

It mixes well in water/milk (I get a little bit of clumps but to avoid that I'll add some milk FIRST than add a scoop and top it off with milk/water) It's HEAVY in that you need about 2 cups of milk for it to mix properly and have it not be too thick. You can get away with just using water and having to use much less liquid. I like using Silk's 'protein' nutmilk just for some extra protein/nutrients and I usually have to fill my shaker almost to the top with one scoop for it to have a thin enough consistency to drink. It seems to 'grow' when using milk.

I can attest that it does it's job. In the morning I typically feel less hungry than if I don't take it, and as a result I'm less sore, etc. I also don't get any bloating, etc. but occasional I'll have some 'gastric' issues-- but that's usually if I eat dinner too late and as a result take this an hour or two after I've had a meal. It's best to take on a completely empty stomach right before bed. But like my post workout protein, (Animal True Mass) this is now a staple of my routine along with my other supplements.

Great protein. Filling, all flavors mix pretty well. Great macros and competitive price. Haven't tried ON Casein, but have no need to convert.

As far as the flavors go:
Cinnamon Roll 2/5
Way too artificial tasting. It became disgusting / almost repulsive to me after having it too much. I ordered it first and still haven't gotten through it (while going through 4lbs of chocolate and 4lbs of cookies and cream). Some people love it, which is why I bought it first. I found it only tastes ok in a shake with almond milk. It's terrible for making pudding, subpar for pancakes -- anything besides shakes is dicey. Wouldn't recommend to anyone.

Chocolate 5/5
Tastes good in any form. I mean it's not a milkshake (like some people seem to claim, it doesn't have sugar for christs sake). But it's one of the best tasting protein powders I've had. Mixes well into a pudding, pancakes, anything really. Super versatile. Flavor isn't overwhelming...hard to get tired of. Sweet enough for a treat, but doesn't get tiring.

Cookies and Cream 4.5/5
Pretty good. Has some of the artificial taste, but not that bad. Didn't enjoy it quite as much as chocolate, but it's a great way to mix it up. Would definitely recommend.

I will be alternating between chocolate and cookies and cream going forward, probably buying chocolate a bit more. Overall a great product. Cinnamon roll flavor is really hit and miss depending on your taste buds -- try it before buying 4lbs.

This stuff tastes great and actually keeps me feeling full for a long time. I take this supplement to give my body protein while I sleep. I have tried other brands and I am going to stick with this one from now on. Great value

I've used this protein off and on over the years. It works but since they changed the label, they changed their scoop. Its bigger than it was yet the serving size still says 1 scoop 36 grams. Not sure why they changed the size but they need to update the serving size or go back to the old scoop.

Finding the right protein powder that taste great and does it’s job at the same time can sometimes be difficult to find. I purchased the micellar casein slow absorbing protein; cookies & cream because my friend highly recommended it and gave me a sample. I actually liked the taste and was sold. It wasn’t grainy and it dissolved very well with my blender bottle. I do a high impact workout during the evenings for about 2 hours. As soon as I get home; I usually mix the Dymatize Elite Micellar Casein Protein powder with almond milk, a little PB2 Powdered Peanut Butter and sometimes I add cacao powder. It’s almost like drinking a thick milkshake. I sometimes use this as a meal replacement when I’m too tired to have a small meal after workout. I usually intake half the suggested serving size if I plan to have a meal. It’s does reduce some of my muscle soreness. I will definitely buy it again.

This protein powder has to rank with the best. I’ve probably tried around ten, and this is my favorite. It mixes perfectly—even in a shaker. The taste is great imo. I only add water-and I usually have to add almond or coconut milk to protein shakes to chicken them down. It is filling and I’ve had no negative side effects (I am lactose intolerant and I have had pain or stomach issues with other protein products). A genuine five star review. I will be reordering. And the price is phenomenal!

I mixed one scoop of chocolate with 8 ounces of skim milk in a blender.... It was like drinking brownie batter. I had to finish it with a spoon because 1 it was too thick and 2 I couldn't reach my tongue far enough into my blender cup. I want another one but I'm too full right now.

taste isn't very good. consistency is that of a typical casein. My product packaging looks NOTHING like the picture. My container looks like it's straight from a 1980 newbie graphic designers desktop....so retro and terrible. But anyway, the point is it looks different than what I thought I was getting which is concerning and that alone is worth noting in a review and loss of stars.

Nonetheless, as far as the product goes, I take it before bed on days I lifted. It seems to be a decent enough balance of value and protein powder quality. The cookies and cream are okay...but a little grainy. It doesn't upset my stomach so the quality is okay.

Taste: 9.5/10 - It still tastes like a protein shake, but its not bland or chalky like other brands. Used 12 oz cold water.
Solubility: 9/10 - Its a hefty scoop so it would sometimes cling to lid of shaker bottle before it dissolves. Mixture gels up in about 5 minutes, I drink it fast before bed.
Satiety: 8/10 - Felt full for a few minutes. If I blend with ice and add PB powder it kept that feeling longer.

Dymatize has gone under a rebrand so I was able to pick this up on the old label (4lb) for only $20 on Amazon. just your usual casein - mixes thick and tastes like chocolate. macros aren't bad either. would buy again only if its super discounted - otherwise I'd go with other brands with more dynamic flavors. just my preference.
