When I give a 5 star rating it's usually because I love the characters, the story and the mood it gives me but, not this time. In the beginning I didn't care for the characters, didn't care about the way the story was unfolding and the mood it put me in I liked even less. So why the 5 stars? I don't know how, or when it happened but questions started popping up that brought more questions that went right into a mystery that held me captive to the end. Unlike most mysteries, I was clueless to what would happen next.

I first stumbled on Pam via an email subscription list that sends me free ebooks to download. I'd just had my second baby and counted on ebooks on my phone and kindle to keep me going through late night feedings and and spending more time at home. Pam of Babylon was the first FREE book on my daily email one day and I downloaded it not knowing anything about the author, the series or what the book was even about.

I had no idea what to expect, but I had no idea that it would suck me in. Many reviews complain about the convoluted, fantastical storylines, but that is what I LOVE about Pam - it is 100% Soap Opera just in book form, and focused around one main character with the rest of the storylines as satellites. The fact of the matter is that these issues and topics happen to real people every single day (albeit not all together and I'm sure most people don't advertise or admit their family scandals) - but isn't that the beauty of a good soap opera?

If you are a Soap fan, you will love Pam, her friends, family and loved ones. You will probably even love her frenemies. You might even love Jack, even as you hate him.

Fair Warning - Once you get sucked into Pam's world, you'll find yourself coming back for more. (And then check out her other series!)

This is a captivating story. A book that you cannot put down! I stayed up until one in the morning finishing this book last night knowing I had to go to work today but I just couldn’t stop! I had trouble sleeping afterwards because my mind was just digesting all of the twists and turns and all of the different characters and the dynamics of the book. Highly recommend!

Another reader stated that we should prepare ourselves to read this book in one sitting. I didn't quite believe it – until I began to read. Each chapter seems to bring another disclosure, another dramatic dilemma. As the story progresses, I love some characters more and more, while I dislike others just as intently. Read about Pam. You're in for a treat!

I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a free copy. I absolutely loved this book! When I initially started this book I fully expected it to be similar to other books with similar background. Pam and Jack appeared to be your average couple living the dream. They had a long and seemingly good marriage, had two kids who were doing well and starting to branch out on their own. Then Jack has a heart attack and dies. Then Pam's life is turned upside down! WOW is all I can say. I could not put this book down. There were so many layers to Jack's life and so many secrets! I cannot wait to read some of the other books in this series. I have already downloaded book number 2. I cannot wait to see where this story goes!

I have read the whole series of "Pam of Babylon" twice. So that might tell you how great this story is. The story of a family torn apart by a husband's death and all the details of his secret life is spellbinding! I had read all of the 9 books in the series months ago so when the 10th book came out, I knew I could not read it until I re-read all the series again. And I loved it better the second time. There were so many details that I had missed. But, at the head of the story is Pam, who holds all her family together no matter what they are faced with and they are faced with unimaginable sorrow and scandal. Read this first book in the series and you will rush to get the next one. By the way, Babylon is a small suburb near Long Island, right on the beach. Enjoy!

I read Pam of Babylon and loved it. I never thought that any one of the three main women were doormats at all. They were three women who had been in love with a man they thought was one way only to find out he was far from the man he appeared. Pam was a very strong, loving and forgiving woman who loved her husband dearly. She did have a break down, in her room after waking up. She reacted just as any woman who had just lost her husband would. Sad, scared, and angry.

It is a shame that he had the problems that he had. The things that happened to him as a young boy were terrible, but was not the cause of the things that he did to the women in his life. Men have affairs and some have many affairs and their wife does not always know, especially when he lives in an apartment in town and only comes home on weekends. It is possible he was what is called a sex addict.

As for Pam being nice and caring about Sandra, Jack's mistress, that is just her way. Sandra was in love with Jack and not that it is okay for a woman to knowingly have an affair with a married man, I believe she had a lot of remorse for what she did. Then she finds out she is pregnant and Pam feels that she has to be there for her because that baby will be her childrens half sibling.

Her sister may be a bit crazy and self centered but she is also a victim. Jack took advantage of her for years unbeknown to Pam and she loved him with all her heart.

Pam is not a stupid woman at all. She is a loving wife and wonderful mother and sister. Pam of Babylon was a wonderful story and you never know how many women this has actually happened to,in real life. I thought it was a wonderful story and can't wait to leave a review of the next book and the next two.

I think Suzanne Jenkins did a wonderful job writing this story and has a great imagination. Pam is a great story. I enjoyed it from the first word to the very last word and couldn't wait to get the 2nd book to find out what happens next. You will not be sorry if you read this story and it will make you want to keep reading to find out what is going to happen next. I promise you will not be disappointed with PAM OF BABYLON... Wonderful, touching, sweet although sometimes makes you angry, story of a woman who loses her husband only to find out she didn't really know him that well at all.. So worth reading.. So get it and the other Pam series' and start reading a great story now.

Pam Of Babylon

Jack Smith had a very full life. His work and family kept him busy, or so it seemed. But upon his death, revelation after revelation seem to be coming out. The people who were the closest to him might not have known him very well at all. Jack had many secrets. Faced with one life altering discovery after another, Jack's wife, Pam, is really trying to keep it all together by being strong for her kids, her husbands family and her own mother and sisters. But she feels life slipping out of control with all this new information that has been brought to light since Jack's death, she is not sure how much more she can be expected to take.

Review: This turned out to be a very good novel. I will be honest and say that at first I was not sure that it could be a good read. There are a lot of characters to this story and at first it seemed a bit confusing as to all of their rolls but as the author progressed with the story it really brought it all together nicely. They are intriguing characters individually but as their lives collide the effect is a really good read. When you are ready to read it, kick back and enjoy, I sure did :)

This is book one of a remarkable 8+ book series.

This is not a light-hearted story, it is a brilliant exploration of lives as they explode and implode following the death of the main character, Jack, at the very start of book #1. This author follows the depth charges of the actions of Jack, as they are revealed in the lives of all the characters in this series of books. It follows the twisted and convoluted actings out of a man sexually abused at the hands of his stepfather, while his drunken mother turns a blind eye - he goes on to be extremely powerful and wealthy, and creates a picture perfect life, against a parallel and multiple secret live of sexual addiction. The subject of the books, is not really this man, he is dead, it is how his second secret life surfaces and ensnares the many characters he touched throughout his own tortured life. It is not quite as dark as this sounds, and at times it is every bit as dark as it sounds…but the author explores it, developed her characters masterfully to help the reader explore how complex and contradictory life as a human being really is.

It is brilliantly written. Frankly, I could hardly put these books down, and thank goodness for a Kindle, could race from one to the next to the next and the next. I am not quite finished yet, but am far enough along (Book 6 of 8) to know that the series does not disappoint in any way, and quickly you care about these characters and simply must know what happens in all their lives.

I recommend this series and this author highly.
