It DOES work but side effects I can't tolerate
July 9, 2017
I debated on this review - on one hand, it DID work on bad breath/morning breath, completely eliminated it during my very few uses, though my breath is pretty average not a chronic issue of any kind. BUT all the reviews that talk about how it gives you a funny taste, water/tea/beverages in particular taste weird? Sadly those were very very true (for me.) I read the manufacturer's claim on their website that "it can take a week/ph balance of mouth adjusting" type explanation on why that happens (it is in their FAQ so obviously a significant number of people complain about this issue.) But I have some serious doubts that an oral rinse used for 90 seconds max even 2x a day should alter your taste buds that much for 24+ hours after use, even just during an adjustment period of a week, and some reviewers claim it goes on for days after stopping use. I searched through reviews looking for evidence that it resolves while continuing to use it as the manufacturer suggests, but didn't find any out of the ones I read, everyone gave it a shot from a day to a week and it didn't stop for them. **There might be people who had it resolve but I didn't find them myself.**
I might ask my dentist her opinion but have no plans to continue to use this. I also tried the baking soda on a toothbrush while brushing suggested to help, and it didn't help. I used it the first day I got it, again that night, and then again the following morning (yesterday) and ALL day yesterday had the weird taste thing when drinking and sometimes while eating (less with food than water and tea when hugely noticeable.) As of this morning (over 24 hours after last use) still a slight alteration in how water tastes but it seems to be getting better than it was yesterday. Really hoping it is back to normal sometime today.
I gave 2 stars because it DID work on breath, but with side effects most people wouldn't tolerate. While not everyone may face this side effect, know it is a roll of the dice since I didn't read anything about who might be more at risk for this, and you might want to consult your own dentist before trying it to get their professional opinion.
One other note, and this is just marketing, but I don't like it when a product arrives with a little tag asking me to leave a 5 star review. I'll be honest I didn't read it to see if it also offered any coupons or discounted/free products for doing so (some do!) - that would have been the really bad part but I can't say what else the tag said as I just tossed it out with the packaging. I get that sellers want to encourage reviews and they hope they'll be positive, but so many of us count on the legitimacy of reviews in our research & buying decisions, and too often now there are worries about reviews being fake, influenced by free offers, overly positive AND too bashing/negative for that matter.
Bottom Line: use it knowing what you might face (and that the seller suggests you should give it a week for that side effect to lessen which I wasn't willing to test since I pretty much hated drinking anything yesterday) but for the 3 times I did use it, the taste of the product itself was fine, slightly minty, didn't burn or sting, and I didn't have morning breath AT ALL that first morning I woke up after having used it nor any breath issues during the day.
