Just goes to show, Hollywood can glamorize ANYTHING
May 9, 2019
I lived on the northeast coast, had my share of encounters and experiences with professional fishermen. They got the drinking part right, that’s for sure. Not saying it isn’t a tough and dangerous job, it is, and that is why it pays so well, but this movie was so corny, so unrealistic, and trying too hard to be oh so dramatic. And Diane Lane, I don’t care how “plain” you can make her, she was completely and totally miscast.
I watched it because it was based on a true story, because of my interest in the sea in general, and because one of the boats used in the film came from the local fishing fleet where I lived. It was entertaining, I suppose, but the 4.5 stars rating is a little frightening.
