Good For Newcomers In Speed-reading!
November 5, 2013
I picked up speed-reading about 3 decades ago, and life has never been the same after that! As a result, I have been recommending speed-reading to my counselees frequently, and even the other day someone asked me if I can point to a good book. Thus I keep reading every speed-reading book that comes my way so that I can recommend the latest good book to them.
I read this book with great attention and enjoyed reading it. I particularly love the way the author has developed a 10-minute-a-day plan as opposed to older writers who demand one or more hours per day -- which is no longer practical for the modern reader. This is the good point in the book and for that I recommend this book.
At the same time, the author spends an inordinate time sharing this testimony, explaining this and that, which are not directly relevant to the subject. This could have been avoided, and that space could have been given to much-needed exercises that he could have added. This criticism should not be taken to mean that the book is bad, but rather that it can, and ought to be, improved upon.
At the end the author gives URLs of a number of very useful speed-reading related websites along with his comments. This section would be very useful for everyone. Over-all, here is an introductory level book that will benefit novices to speed-reading. I recommend it.
