One of my favorite book worlds is Magnolia Sound, with its delightful cast of characters, southern hospitality, and ocean breezes. I’m so glad this series has continued, because I’m not nearly ready to let go of all of the wonderful people I've met there. Magnolia Sound calls to the reader, welcoming her in, and one visit will never be enough. And a second-chance romance? Oh yeah, I’m there!
Things ended rather badly between Kyle and Sydney after high school, and neither one ever looked back. Kyle has been the consummate bachelor, dating many of the Magnolia women but none more than short term. Now Sydney, the only girl Kyle ever loved, has returned to Magnolia to be the guardian of her newly orphaned twelve-year-old niece Hannah.
Sydney left her life and her job in Boston, she knows nothing about being a parent, and her sister and brother-in-law’s house gives a whole new meaning to fixer upper. But the town has come together to make the home comfortable, and it just so happens Kyle is the construction foreman.
It seems like each new book in this series is my new favorite, and I fell big for these characters and their story. I especially appreciate that the conflict was more from external sources, because really, a twelve-year-old who's living through grief has the capability for more than enough conflict. It's authentic, poignant and heartbreaking and takes the book to a deeper level.
Chase really upped her game with this one! With a little added suspense, the emotion of this book will slìce your heart to ribbons and then piece it back together better than new. These characters owned my heart and I experienced everything right alongside them. While the circumstances that bring them together are heart rending, their story is one of healing, hope, and new beginnings. It's an exceptional, touching, heartfelt, feel-good read that you won’t want to miss!
Sydney returned to her home town to live her sister and brother-in-laws house to raise their daughter, Hannah, after they passed away. The town works together to to make the fixer upper fixed. Fate has Kyle, her high school flame, as the construction foreman. Both have regrets about how their relationship ended.
It doesn't take long for their flame to rekindle.
I really love how 'real' this story is. From the struggles of working through old relationship issues, the highs and lows of grief, adjusting to raising a kid, dealing with the attitudes of a kid, attempts of having a relationship.
I also loved re-connecting with the characters from Magnolia Sound. Small town living at it's best.
This a wonderful heart warming read that I consider a must read.
Kyle and Sydney were high school sweethearts. Sydney graduates and go off to college. Kyle, immature and hurt parties it up. Now 10 years later Sydney is back. Her sister and brother in law are killed in an accident leaving their 12 yo daughter under Sydney's guardianship. They also leave a fixer upper using that word lightly. Kyle works construction and is put in charge of the remodel. So here they are thrown together each day in the same house. Gets them both thinking. They never did stop loving each other. This is a great addition to the Magnolia Sound series. It's also a tear jerker but I couldn't put it down. Each Magnolia book is a stand alone but to really get the flavor of the seaside town you should read them from the beginning. I loved everything about this book and the series.
Samantha Chase has once again delivered another wonderful romance with Last Beautiful Girl, the sixth book in her Magnolia Sound series. I love the Magnolia Sound. Samantha Chase has once again provided her readers with amazing characters. I love all the characters in Last Beautiful Girl, they feel like family! Who doesn't love hot sexy men, strong, passionate females, and big loving families, who always support one another? Samantha Chase continues to deliver all that and so much more. Reading Last Beautiful Girl felt like catching up at a family reunion, and seeing how the lives of the other characters in the series have changed and all the babies! I so enjoyed the book and am looking forward to reading the remaining books in the Magnolia Sound series. I have read other books by Samantha Chase and have really enjoyed her wonderfully written stories. Samantha Chase has once again shown that she is an amazing storyteller. Last Beautiful Girl did not disappoint, I could not put it down and loved every page. Who doesn’t love a second chance at first love story? I enjoy how Samantha Chase writes from the perspective of the two main characters. That way you get to know what is going on in each of their minds. Last Beautiful Girl is a wonderful love story and is filled with heartbreaking and heartwarming moments. I love the lighter moments where I find myself smiling and laughing out loud and the bittersweet moments that cause me to sigh, say aww to myself with tears filling my eyes. Last Beautiful Girl be filled with such moments, and with so much emotion. It is filled with all those things that we have come to love and expect in a love story, especially the poignant and bittersweet moments that filled this page turner. Last Beautiful Girl is the story of Sydney Albright, who recently became the guardian of her niece, Haley, following the deaths of her sister and brother-in-law, Tracy and Daren and Kyle Jones, a contractor working for Jake Summerford and Coleman Construction. Sydney decides to move into the fixer upper that Tracy and Daren had just purchased, because she doesn’t want to uproot Haley from her friends and the home she shared with her parents. The home is in need of major renovation, and the church approached Jake Summerford about helping with the renovations. When Sydney and Kyle see each other for the first time in years, it is not a happy reunion. Kyle wanted Sydney to choose him instead of going to college in Boston. Kyle was not willing to try a long-distance relationship and issued Sydney an ultimatum. Sydney was upset with Kyle and lets him know it. Kyle and Sydney begin spending time together and things heat up between the two of them. As Kyle works on the renovations to the house, sometimes on his own time at his own cost, he and Sydney grow closer. Things change when Haley issues Sydney her own ultimatum. I loved the story and am so glad that both Sydney and Kyle got their happily ever after that they waited so long for. My favorite part in the book is the epilogue and how it wraps up all the details of the happily ever after, and it did not disappoint. Samantha Chase has once again shown that she is an amazing story teller. Last Beautiful Girl contains all the things I have loved most in the series, romance, great characters and setting, bittersweet moments and the plot twist that ties it all together. Amazing story. I could not put it down.
Coming back to Magnolia Sound gives all the warm fuzzy feels. Kyle and Sydney have a past. Sydney was the first beautiful girl Kyle loved. Sydney is now a single mom trying to raise her niece Haley all by herself. Haley has been through a terrible tragedy losing both her parents. Sydney is trying to be the support Haley needs. Kyle is playboy of the family. Kyle knows he made a mistake with Sydney. Their breakup took its tole on Kyle and left his confidence shattered. Kyle wants a second chance with Sydney. Kyle wants to be there every step of the way to help Sydney raise Haley. I loved the major theme of book the importance of family. I loved how Kyle, Sydney and Haley come together as a family.
An emotional second chance romance that I could not put down. Kyle let Sydney walk away once but she has now returned to Magnolia Sound and wants to pick up where they left off. Sydney is now the guardian of her twelve year old niece, after her parents were killed tragically. Lots of life changes for Sydney with instant parenthood and budding relationship with Kyle.
Loved Kyle and Sydney, they share a sizzling chemistry that can't be denied. Both are wonderful with Sydney's niece, Hayley. Loved catching up with previous Magnolia Sound characters. Fair warning, have your tissues ready. This is part of series but can be read as a stand alone. Can't wait to read more from this series!!
Kyle let her walk away once and it didn't take him long to realize he wasn't going to let it happen a second time. Sydney was broken hearted with grief and still angry at Kyle for what he did to her years ago. To put it kindly she was a complete mess. But Kyle worked his was in and held on tight. I absolutely adored Kyle and Sydney's story. I can't wait for the next book in the Mongolia series!
Samantha Chase has created a wonderful world in Magnolia Sound - I would move there in a heartbeat. Every new book/couple is my favorite. Kyle and Sydney were everything and more. A fabulous second-chance romance. Absolutely loved them.
What an enjoyable book. Samantha Chase has a way of pulling you in to her stories and making you feel like you are right there with the characters. Kyle and Sydney are wonderful together and when she isn't being a brat Haley's kind of great too.
I have looked forward to every Magnolia Sound book, and getting Kyle's story was surprising and touching. Sydney's struggles as a brand-new single mom of an adolescent are true-to-life. The grief she and Hayley is not downplayed. It is not all happily ever after UNTIL the hard work is done. I appreciated the real depiction of counseling - that not every counselor-patient relationship is a good fit, but that persevering is worth it in the end.
Ready for the next book in the series!
I discovered this author late in 2019, and in 2020 I devoured 27 books on her backlist. I look forward to each new story, to meeting the other characters in each family or locale.
