Jill Shalvis is an author that I automatically pre-order. It doesn't matter what she writes, she never, ever disappoints. The Summer Deal is in that category. Brynn Turner's personal life is in shambles. Because of a bad choice on her part she has lost everything. With her tail between her legs she goes back home. She feels she really has no other choice and knows that her Moms will welcome her with open arms. The only hesitation she has is running into Kinsey Davis. When they were both younger they went to the same summer camp for many years until suddenly Kinsey was no longer there. To say they did not get along is an understatement.
Eli is Kinsey's best friend and also went to camp with her and Brynn. Eli and Kinsey's relationship was strictly platonic. They were like brother and sister. When Kinsey got sick and then had to have a kidney transplant, Eli was there for her. This is where the story really begins. Kinsey's body starts to reject her new transplant. Her whole attitude changes and she becomes sarcastic and mean to everyone. She considers herself to have an expiration date. Without a new kidney her days will be numbered.
To watch how the relationship between Kinsey, Brynn and Eli develops makes you smile at times and also shed some tears. Jill Shalvis can really tug at your heartstrings and she did her job in The Summer Deal. If you are a fan of hers I hope you won't hesitate to read this book. Maybe you have never read her before then this will be a good book to start with. I loved every minute of it and finished with a smile in my heart.
