I've read all the books in the Casey Jones series (this is my favorite of Ms. Munger's detective series) and she's pulled off another winner. Reading the first chapter online was enough to convince me this would be an incredibly fun read, and it is. It's also moving and full of wonderfully realized characters. In addition to the mystery we get observations about the rapid social changes affecting Casey's world and the gentrification of North Carolina cities. Casey is tough, driven and cares about her clients; once she gets her teeth into a mystery, nothing will stop her. Highly recommended.
Happy was the day that I realized there was a new Casey Jones book to read! And Ms Munger did not disappoint me! When I started reading, I couldn't imagine enjoying a book about two Little People exotic dancers! So not my style, but within pages I was hooked. Turns out there was a lot of psychology/family issues/deep friendships/and shockers packed within those 264 pages! Parts of it I didn't like. (Burly and his passive-aggressive attitude for one. Why help someone if you hate them so?) Parts were horrible. (Rats death.) Parts were funny and included lovable characters. (Marcus and his assessment of Casey's note taking.) But the total package was a fun to read and exciting mystery. I echo other readers in hoping there is at least one more book so we can see Casey get her HEA. Really enjoyed this book!!!
It may be the middle of the series, but this is my introduction to Casey Jones and her crew- and what an introduction! Individually crazy clients, fantastic situations, and a great “support” crew behind her. Marvelous! Casey is ultimately believable, complex herself and well written. Her friends and her life too are well drawn. Her clients, and the situations they lead her into, well, they make the story! I’m looking for more, both earlier and current from this author.
I’m glad I’ve found a new author...Katy Munger! I hope there’s a book 8-9-10....many more, indeed! I appreciate that you kept Casey’s profile consistent.... One does wonder what kind of car she’ll be driving next!
Fantastic read with fantastic characters, and storyline. Do you trust the biker gangs? Little women dancers, which are close “sisters”. When one winds up missing where to begin.., Definitely a recommend read!
