I bought this kettle to replace a Hamilton Beach which I used for several years. That one had stainless steel exterior which became hot to the touch. Also, the water did not heat up as quickly as it used to. Here is what I like about this product:
Cool-touch exterior; modern, clean appearance and white color; quick heatup time; water comes to a rolling boil; and dual wall insulation (which keeps the water hot longer than my old one).
Here is what I don't like:
The steam vents at the spout are fairly large (with no filter screen), so when the water is boiling, there is a LOAD of steam emitted from the vessel. I try to turn it off just prior to it getting that hot, (which is a bit of a pain, considering it does have automatic shutoff). I definitely need to point it away from the upper kitchen cabinets when I turn it on, so that the steam doesn't sail upward toward them. Then, of course, the kettle is boiling near the edge of the counter, which could be a concern for those with small children or pets in the house.
My biggest beef with this kettle is the way it pours. It is rather sloppy and a little drippy. Too much water comes out too fast - not a smooth pour even if I try to control how fast I pour it, and it drips some when I'm finishing up the pour. I see this not only as inconvenient but as a safety hazard.
I found the box I thought I had tossed, so I will be returning it and getting a different style and brand. I am a little disappointed because all the positives of this product are very good. However, I would not buy this again.
