The main reason why I bought this set was to get remastered editions of Desolation Angels and Rough Diamonds because I already have the awesome 2 disc remasters of the first four albums. I am often weary of clamshell boxsets because of the "budget feel" of the paper sleeve reproductions where the print is small and often hard to read and the booklets (if there is one) are often very short on information and photos. Although there isn't a booklet with new liner notes in this collection, I'm happy to report that the production and quality of the Swan Song Years is much better than other clamshell sets I have purchased over the past few months. The LP sleeve reproduction are made from better paper stock and they also include the original inner jacket sleeves which is a nice added touch! The remastered versions of Desolation Angels and Rough Diamonds are fantastic and each disc has the Swan Song label like the Led Zeppelin remasters. I still hold out hope that Rhino puts out 2 disc sets of those two albums because I would love to hear the alternate and single versions of Rock And Roll Fantasy and many others!
Awesome to have all the Paul Rodgers Bad Company in one collection. Especially nice is the remastering of their final two albums, DESOLATION ANGELS and ROUGH DIAMONDS. No bonus tracks or B-sides are included, and if there is a negative, that would be the only one. Bad Company are one of those 70s bands everyone listened to on the radio, but pretty much has been forgotten aside from their several classic radio staples "Can't Get Enough," "Feel Like Makin' Love" and "Rock & Roll Fantasy." Listening to this will remind you just how good this band was.
How can this not be five stars? They all sound and look great, all in one nice box and at about a half dozen bucks a disc? This was a no brain order and I've enjoyed it many times since it's arrived. The double disc sets of the first 4 albums are fun but frankly...there weren't many , if any , gems that didn't make it on to the albums. The last couple of albums are featured for the first time remastered in this set and that is a plus as well.
What can you say......Was fortunate enough to see Paul & Bad Company this year in Nashville......as good as ever, maybe better 🤔 Just had to get this historic CD set. I've got most of the original pressing in vinyl.
