They were supposed to stay away. It was never supposed to become a summer romance that would lead to forever.
Lila arrived on the island after her mother died. She finds herself living with her grandparents and working for the wealthy Mr. Bertram. The only rule was to stay away from his grandsons.
Thayer spent every summer of his life on the island. No internet, time to unwind and disconnect from technology and bond with family. Until he sees Lila.
Thayer was warned to stay away too. However, once Thayer decided he wanted something, he was unstoppable. He wanted to get to know Lila and maybe more.
A beautiful story of forbidden love, the lengths people will go to when they have a plan and the ultimate deceit. They shared a love that was never supposed to happen. Obstacles kept them apart. But true love never dies. They never gave up hope. Soul mates always find a way.
Another great story from the author. A strong, resilient woman who did what needed to be done to survive and protect her family. A truly good man led by his heart. He went after what he wanted, but was always sweet and caring. He never compromised his morals and never gave up on her. You’ll love this story!
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book from BookSprout. Wow! What an amazing story, this author has outdone herself with this one and I thought Pricked was my favorite, well I was mistaken, For Lila, Forever takes the cake. I love Thayer and Lila, they were quirky, fun, full of love for each other until their lives took a turn on two different pages. Thayer was warned to stay away from Lila while she was helping her grandparents that summer, but he just couldn’t abide by those rules, Lila was so intriguing that he couldn’t help himself, he was inquisitive, wanted to know everything about her, but Lila was a hard nut to crack. Lila knew that if they were together it could end her stay as well as her grandparent’s jobs, but it took a little convincing on Thayer’s part and she agreed to meet on the sly. Little did they know that they weren’t the only ones that knew what was going on between them that summer. Promises were made between them and the months of waiting to see each other again were cut short due to secrets and lies, papers signed, and lives changed forever. I was so touched by their story, I got a little choked up with the last few chapters. So many obstacles in their way, people keeping them apart, and a secret being kept from Thayer and finding each other again years later, still having those feelings for each other, that’s true love. No spoilers from me, this is a must read that you can’t miss out on. Absolutely loved this book and I highly recommend it.
Winter Renshaw is an auto-one-click for me. Every single time. And from the first word in this book, I was hooked.
You’ve seen and read the huge number of reviews, and every favourable one is spot on. This story of true love in the face of family secrets and lies, all accomplished through the power of money in the hands of a manipulative man, held me in thrall for the entirety of the book. At the pinnacle is Thayer’s Grandfather, a man who uses money to bend and control the lives of those around him. Rose Crossing Island is his domain, and having the entire family spend every summer gave him opportunity to remind them of their obligations to him. Despite repeated warnings, forbidden teenaged love still blossomed.
Ms Renshaw’s writing is so deep that I felt every moment between Thayer and Lila. I felt the chemistry when their eyes met as Lila arrived on the Island to live with her grandparents after the death of her mother, through to the excitement of first love. Always though, I felt the shadow of a bitter man looking to crush that beautiful budding romance underfoot. I also felt Thayer’s loss as he realises what his Grandfather has done. The old man thinks he succeeded, but in this case, the hinted at family skeletons finally tumbled out of the closet!
Thayer and Lila are characters to be admired. In spite of the circumstances forced onto them, they kept their integrity intact and continued to feel the love that was created in just one summer on the island. Oh my, Thayer is just gorgeous in his tenacious search for Lila. His love came through so strong, I could almost touch it. And on her part, Lila could have been bitter, but for her, family was everything. She’ll keep her word because she has to, breaking both of their hearts in the process.
Love and sincerity vs. Money and manipulation – this book contained every emotion, and kept me on tenterhooks the entire time. Another great book from Winter Renshaw. 5 Stars.
Thayer Ainsworth is that man- the kind of man who loves unconditionally and does not let go ever! *Le Sigh* If there was ever reason, I needed a reminder of why I read so many of the books I do... OH MY! 'For Lila, Forever' is a perfect example, it incorporates everything I look for in a steamy, sweet, swoon me away break from reality!
What a beautifully written story from young love to adult heartache with its agonizing plot twists, loveable characters, and not overly dramatized scenes ( many thanks to the author for this).
Following along on Lila and Thayer's cosmic lovers battle of wills was an enticing story that wrapped me up in its feels warming to the core, not letting go till I got to the very last page!
A love story that will move mountains, or cottages... and make you believe #oneclickmaterial
In spite of the warning not to get involved with Lila, Thayer couldn't help himself not to get curious about the girl he's going to spend the entire summer with even though she's just the "help". He can tell she's different from other girls he'd known.
"She's an enigma. A puzzle I want to solve. A code I need to crack."
The moment Lila steps on the island, she was immediately warned to keep everything professional when it comes to the owner's grandsons. Lila has been doing that, avoiding them in any possible way, but one is so persistent in talking to her -- Thayer.
"Everything about you and your entire world is perfect, Thayer. Maddeningly perfect. And as much as I try not to ... I can't help but like you too,"
After that night, Thayer and Lila's secret rendezvous begun. They are always vigilant not to be caught for they know there will be consequences. Summer is coming to an end, and Thayer will go back to college while Lila will stay on the island. Will their love for each other stand the test of time?
For Lila, Forever -- Utterly captivating the moment I started reading and it only took me one day to finished. I literally could not put it down. Emotionally filled characters that made you think they are real. It was beautifully written with some twist and manipulation along the way. Truly an epic love story. Of all the books I read and enjoyed by this author, this has become one of my favorite to-date. This book is highly recommended!
I'm already half way through the bibliography of this author and have to say every new book is better than the previous one. Soon I need to start giving more stars than 5. This book is perfectly written, plot flows effortlessly and suddenly reader gets immersed so deeply in the story that doesn't even notice that the end is getting close. It was a great pleasure to read it. Simply flawless. Loved the main characters from the beginning. I really liked the characteristics of the protagonists so hard to find these days in real life or in books and films. I loved how romantic, sweet, pure and heart-warming their love were. The twists, lies, hidden truths stand on their way to be together. Being persistent was always enough for Thayer to get what he wants. Till now he always got what he set his mind to achieve. Would it be the same with Lila? Or the evil trying to keep them apart will win? "Forever is a promise. Love is a promise. Someday, too, is a promise. I'm a man of my word and no amount of time or distance, no amount of unanswered questions will ever change that. She's the only woman I've ever wanted. I won't rest until she's in my arms again." I cried, I smiled, I laughed my heart broke and then was put back together. I spent great time with the characters and was smitten by the way the story was delivered with immaculate writing. Can't wait for another release. This author is on my one-click list!
After the death of her mother, Lila travels to the secluded island of Rose Crossing to live with her grandparents where they are the housekeeper and groundskeeper for a millionaire family. Thayer is the golden child grandson, visiting the island for his summer break from Yale. What starts as a summer romance changes both of their lives.
This story is beautifully written, as I've come to expect from a Renshaw story. I loved Lila's strength and I fell in love with Thayer. There's a full cast of characters and all are fully developed. There's a wide spectrum of emotions (grief, love, heartbreak, and more) and many heartwarming moments that made me smile. And while there is a commonly used trope in full form here, there's an added layer of complexity woven into the story that still managed to surprise me with the reveal.
The heat level is low but the romance is high. The love they had for each other stood the test of time, and I absolutely loved that. The ending felt a little rushed and left me with a few lingering questions. I wanted more time with Lila and Thayer together, as a couple in the present time.
Overall, this is another wonderful romance from this author that's worth a read.
This author creates such evocative, heartfelt stories and I’m always eager to get my hands on her latest book. Thayer Ainsworth was born with the proverbial silver spoon in his mouth and is the apple of his granddad, Howard Bertram's, eye. Lila Hilliard was raised by a single mom and goes to live with her grandparents after her mother's death. The blue bloods and the working class don’t socialize and certainly aren’t friends, especially since the Hilliards are employed by the Howard Bertram.
Despite warnings from his grandfather and the threat of being disinherited, Thayer can’t seem to stay away from Lila. They spend one secret, forbidden, glorious summer together with a promise to reunite the following summer, but when Thayer returns from school to the family summer home, Lila and her grandparents are gone.
The love Thayer has for Lila is the kind of love we all dream of. It’s a love that spends ten long years searching tirelessly for the other half of its soul, a love that overcomes lies, deceit and manipulation, and the kind of love that hopes, endures, waits faithfully and never gives up. The innocence and beauty of Thayer and Lila's young love is tender and touching and, through the years and miles that separate them, its flame continues to burn brightly in each of them.
This one will put you through the full array of emotions as you laugh, cry and swoon your way through the pages. Various characters will have you wanting to strangle them, swat them away like an annoying fly, or roll your eyes, but you’ll be rooting for Thayer and Lila every step of the way on their journey to forever. These two soul mates will stay in your heart long after the last page, and you don’t want to miss their phenomenal story.

Winter Renshaw is one of my go to authors whenever she has a new book out and I am never disappointed. She gives us stories with heart, characters with depth and a storyline that is not boring. Lila and Thayer meet one summer on the island his grandfather owns. They are attracted to each other and the rest is history...or is it? The grandfather interferes and it is a decade before Thayer is able to find Lila. There is a twist I did not see coming that adds to the story and that is all I will say about it. I really liked Lila and Thayer separately and together. Could not put the book down and read it in one day. Thanks to the author for another good story!
This book started out so good! It kept me hooked and I kept wanting to know what would happen next. I loved Lila and Thayer. They were just so prefect together, even if they had to hide it. I loved learning about the summer they spent together. But then it just started feeling to pushed. I loved that Thayer finally found Lila and found out the truth. I'm glad he confronted his grandfather. The secrets that were kept shocked me. But I still felt like it was incomplete, in a sense. I SERIOUSLY would have liked to know what became of Ashlan. Did Thayer finally tell her off? What about that video she posted? Did he do what he saud said he'd do? I know she was an insignificant part of the story, yet she kept claiming to "love" Thayer and did what she could to stake her claim. Please don't get me wrong. I hated her. I just feel like we missed something there. I was thankful for the epilogue. It answered some questions that I was curious about. Like I said, I enjoyed this book from the beginning. I just thought the ending was a bit pushed to fast.
