Got one lawn aerator shoes last years. thinking it will be a good combination of both shoes and rolling lawn aerator tool at the same time. i was right，double effort and double results. Easy installed and pushed around. saw some recently result especially the place that i have dead grass became green again. so i think it really worked.
Does what it’s supposed to do. Metal brackets where the spikes are attached is a little cheaply made. They will bend if you exert too much pressure. Also, be sure to oil the wheel well. The handle connection is a poor design. Should have been a bearing or something smoother but it does what it’s designed to do.
Spikes didn’t penetrate, even when weighted. Bricks don’t help, neither did 10 pounds of steel weight. Lightweight, so it’s not easy to keep a consistent pattern. Screws keep coming loose when it’s used because of the motion.
1. The nuts that hold the roller to the handle cause their own issues. While pushing it, one falls off while the other tightens up making the whole thing difficult to push. 2. This thing does not weigh enough to penetrate through the grass to actually make holes in the soil. The bars that hold the spike actually bent a little bit from me trying to push down on it to get it into the soil.
To start off the nuts on the tire are junk. Supposedly locking nuts however, they do not tighten at all! They can be slide from bottom to top of bolt by hand. The handle is in three sections that wobble in use; also very short.
This didnt work as well as I had hoped. Assembly was easy enough by design. Problem was metal was bent so I had to use some force to fix it. Ok fine once its together. Storage is difficult since it's a bunch of spikes. Kept it in the box when not in use but not taking apart every time.
The spikes need to be slightly curved. When rolling it felt like I was prying out the dirt. This is purely due to the physics.
I ended up using spiked shoes. This product I was not worth the 40$ I spent.
Very flimsy and the nut that holds one section of the frame to the wheel always comes off. This may have been a great idea on the drawing board but that’s as far as it should have went! Don’t buy unless you want a spiky paper weight.
I regret buying this item. The shield did not fit right and the bolts and lock nuts sent with the item do not fit right leaving it too loose to hold everything together correctly. It is very cheaply made.
