The beauty of a light weight kitty litter is that it can be delivered by services like Amazon and that it can be moved easily. This would be a great advantage if the product worked.
First. The smell. People comment that it smells good. And it does, I guess, in the container. Purina must add extra perfume to compensate for the lack of material odor control. In use, this litter stinks to high heaven in a couple days. We have an old cat and need to put the box in a central space and we find that it even attracts flies. As a result, we need to change it much more frequently than standard litter. My guess is that reviewers who haven't experienced this issue keep their box away from the living space (like a basement) or they have multiple animals and are used to the odor.
Second. Clumping. It does not clump the same as regular litter. It is materially different and the clumps get huge and can cover the entire bottom of the box. Furthermore they can disintegrate upon agitation. As a result, changing the litter means over-sized (smelly) clumps that are impossible to get out completely. We have taken to just replacing all the litter every time we clean - which negates the value of clumping litter but does help us get rid of it faster.
Third. Tracking. As many reviewers comment, the stuff gets tracked all over. It is light weight, is easily tossed out of the box, or tracked to other rooms of the house. Honestly though, this drawback I could live with were it not for the other two.
In closing, you should go ahead and try this stuff because the promise of light weight clumping litter is appealing. However, it isn't the same. You will have to change more often, use more litter, spend more money, and increase your cleaning.
