Honestly I've loved this series for a long while now and it did not disappoint. I can only hope they green light more seasons quickly so we don't have to wait another 2 years for a season 3. You will laugh and cry in the same episode, I'm telling you. I don't cry easily, I was teary eyed more than once. I laughed my ass off, but I found myself endeared to most of the characters constantly. I was really concerned when things took a turn for the heroes, and all this in a show that's meant to be satire? 10 episodes every 2 years isn't enough, please give us more!
I've enjoyed Ben Edlund's The Tick since its days as a Saturday morning cartoon. But its latest incarnation isn't just the best of the big blue bug's multiple media adaptations. It's not just funny (although this season brims with laugh-out-loud moments). In season 2, the Tick has become a legitimately terrific show – goofy and absurd, yes, but also delightfully sincere. These ten fast-paced episodes are packed with surprising plot twists, well-developed characters, beautiful production values, and a ton of heart. The show finds the right balance between insanity and earnestness, even sneaking in a few serious and profound themes, and making you care about the most ridiculous members of its sprawling ensemble. It's hard to embrace this show's distinct kind of silliness without tipping into camp, but The Tick's never laughing at its audience or its characters. (It is, however, happy to laugh with them.) Like Daredevil season 3 on a certain other streaming service, the season moves from strength to strength, with its visual style, storytelling, and superb cast firing on all cylinders. Peter Serafinowicz's portrayal of the title character remains an absolute hoot, with a velvety, Adam-West-with-a-head-injury bonhomie. Griffin Newman's Arthur is still wonderfully human amid all the superpowered madness. And the supporting cast is just ridiculously great, with the female characters especially getting more of a chance to shine in a series with a notable plethora of episodes written and directed by women. In these grim times, a bright, colorful show without an ironic bone in its body is just what we need. More, please. The season ends with a callback to that original cartoon series that's just too genius to go unfulfilled.
The newest version on Amazon Prime Video just might be the best version yet! It takes all best parts of the previous adaptations and improves upon them, while also bringing so much new to the table. This version also brings some of the sensibilities and dark humor from the comic that was noticeably missing from the previous two shows. What it aslo bring to the world is something I never knew I wanted from this IP, a sense of wholesomeness... Is weird to say but a show with hard profanity and some graphic violence could be described as "wholesome" but some how it manages that feat. The Amazon version of the Tick is everything I have ever wanted from a live-action version and more! Peter Serafinowicz and Griffin Newman are so perfect in their roles, they basically are the Tick and Arthur. I think you'd be doing yourself a huge disservice by not watching this show,
i loved the original cartoon in the 1990s, and the timing is appropriate for a show that makes fun of and appreciates super hero lore. all of the characters are their great selves, with the addition of Overkill and Dot being expanded in the 2nd season. its great stuff Amazon, keep the show going forever!
It is a really fun show that plays out as a funny adventure. Hopefully Amazon sees fit to bring it back for another season. I mean even lobsters should love this show and want more could you want then the love of lobsters? Maybe some love from humans, but we all know that baby lobsters are the key to keeping this show around. Also go watch the show already.
Unfortunately, some idiot at amazon decided to cancel this wonderful show. What is it with people prematurely cancelling The Tick? Hopefully the show will find another platform for season 3. Every thing about this show is great. The writing is really solid, it's funny yet still gets the viewer emotionally invested. Unlike a lot of superhero stuff in recent years, you're laughing with the superheroes, not at them (Marvel is particularly bad about cr^pping on the source material). The characters are fantastic, partially because of the writing and partially because of the actors. The cast has incredible chemistry. The show has so much potential for future seasons. Some shows are all about the mystery around the characters' secrets, but once the big reveal happens the momentum is lost. The Tick has plenty of secrets that feel like they'll only enhance the plot once they're revealed.
All I can say is the Tick is amazing and such fun, it really was well worth the wait. I want more seasons, this is bloody brilliant! Fun for all and those with families too. You feel so good after watching and it is so funny, enjoy the ride!
I love The Tick. I loved the cartoon back in the day. I enjoyed the Patrick Warburton version (and appreciated the Warburton cameo last season)
But this version just takes the character to a new level.
Arthur is really the main character. The Tick is the supporting role. That is an interesting take. But The Tick is hilarious. He nailed the character, caring only about being a superhero and nothing else and seeing things through that myopic field of view.
The villains are corny just like they are supposed to be. The side character heroes are even cornier. But they play up the corniness without sacrificing story or making the show look cheap.
The 4K presentation is stunning. Well worth watching in the 4K version. The picture quality is just amazing.
I was waiting with crossed fingers hoping that the same high quality storytelling, dialog, and acting would continue, and I was happily not disappointed! Already watched this season five times. PLEASE RENEW!
This is a wonderful show! Please bring it back. The Tick is a feel good show with a great cast. Please don’t let this wonderful series become forgotten like Wonderfalls and Firefly. Please Amazon reconsider your decision to cancel this show.
